The goal is to marry production and safety to get operator "buy-in" and avoid unsafe makeshift solutions... 70% of the time I am working with EHS, the other is split between engineers, maintenance, facilites, and consultants! It is so fun to work with such a variety of professions. In the end, they all work together. So even if I start the project with EHS, we end up speaking with engineers, maintenance, and operators. This is so we can make sure while we are improving safety and reducing noise that the tools STILL WORK! Once we decide we can reduce noise or improve safety, it is ALSO my TOP priority to meet production/ operation needs. This is crucial in my work because if the operators don't see value in the new air blow guns they end up becoming "mad scientists" and Frankenstein the NEW blow guns! The goal is try to marry performance and safety. Every facility and application is different, it keeps my work as interesting as the day I started! I learn something new every day and meet some great people along the way!

What's the first line of defense in plant operations? A good production operator. A good operator is usually the first one to see that a unit is not working right. They have a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of how their equipment should operate. Here's what sets them apart: ✅ Vigilance: They are always on the lookout for signs of trouble. ✅ Proactivity: At the first sign of trouble, they spring into action. ✅ Responsibility: They either fix the issue themselves or call the maintenance crew. ✅ Cost-Awareness: They understand that early intervention can avoid a costly repair job later. Remember, in plant operations, early detection of problems is crucial. It can mean the difference between a minor adjustment and a major repair job. 🔧 Never underestimate the value of a vigilant operator. 📌 And if you're looking for more insights into the world of plant operations, 📤 Follow me for more posts like this. The right person, doing the right job. It’s not just efficient—it’s profitable. Having clear roles and responsibilities is crucial for managing the business of maintenance effectively. When everyone knows their role, there’s no overlap, no confusion, and resources are used efficiently. Without clear guidelines, you might end up with technicians doing their own planning, which isn’t what you hired them for. Technicians should be turning wrenches, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment—not doing clerical tasks like planning their work or fetching parts. That’s where planners, parts managers, or supervisors come in. When roles are blurred, people get overworked, and productivity suffers. Clear boundaries let your team focus on what they do best, without being bogged down by extra tasks. Is your team focused on the right tasks? Let’s talk.

Technical superintendents: Opting for the lowest quote will often lead you to expensive headaches. I know…you have the budget and the boss etc, but comparing services is key—low quotes with HIDDEN costs will cause you frustration. So, what’s the best way for you to READ quotes related to safety services? 🔹Avoid the cheapest options Cheap isn't always cheerful. The lowest quotes often lead to mistakes, dissatisfaction, and costly issues. 🔹Compare services thoroughly Low quotes with hidden costs end up being more expensive. Compare services carefully to avoid surprise charges. A higher upfront cost often saves money in the long run. 🔹Partner with experienced companies Experienced partners prevent issues and ensure compliance. Investing in them saves you money and improves service. Don't forget: Your job is complex enough. Don't complicate it even further. P.S. What’s your definition of “a safety service provider from hell"? 😀 ~~~~~ I’m Chris, with 18+ years of experience in ship safety services. Need assistance with 🧯🔥FFE/LSA, lifeboats, calibrations, or bridge electronics? Drop me a DM to discuss. #maritime #shipsandshipping #lsa #ffe #lifeboats
