Accessing international research, data and compute can be challenging for research collaborations. The AAF is one of 79 Federations that offer researchers international connectivity through eduGAIN. Pioneered by GÉANT, the collaboration of European National Research and Education Networks (NRENs), eduGAIN enables simple and secure access to international content, services and resources to encourage global research collaboration. AAF's leadership team regularly participate in international conferences to share our knowledge and expertise, and inform future planning for the Federation. This week, some of AAF's leadership team attended TNC24 in Rennes, France. TNC24 assembles over 800 participants from 70 countries, representing global federations, research and education networks, schools and universities, technology providers, and many of the world’s most exciting scientific projects to explore a wide variety of topics. John Scullen, AAF's Head of Projects and Managed Services, presented updates from the AAF at the Research and Education FEDerations group (REFEDS) side meeting. John covered a range of topics including development and security, and AAF's work with National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) facilities to create a significant step change through a seamless, secure and globally connected research ecosystem. #AustralianAccessFederation #NCRIS #NCRISimpact #research #digitalresearch #eduGAIN #TNC24

As the members of the ASTP already know, the mission of #KTT (knowledge and technology transfer) professionals is to be the bridge between scientific research and the economy. Yet, many scientists struggle to #communicate science to non-scientific audiences in a way that generates interest and that leads to value creation. The role of KTT professionals is also to explore how they can help their researchers to identify and better understand the needs of different stakeholders, so that they can better address their audience. The key is storytelling, which has been a transversal tool to help scientists, businesses, founders & funders, as well as regulators, to understand each other and engage in impactful and fruitful conversations. I'm happy to be sharing the stage with Jacek Plucinski at the upcoming ASTP Conference in Seville. We'll give a talk about our multi-year experience in using storytelling as an effective tool for translating scientific findings into economic values. The examples will focus on knowledge transfer professionals, researchers, and other stakeholders, with actionable insights for all attendees. The discussion will be moderated by Anders Aune. Looking forward to seeing you there: https://lnkd.in/deti4jEk

Well done, interaction among multiple perspectives and disciplines is so crucial to pursuing knowledge and truth as the core distinctive goals of universities
I’m thrilled to e-introduce Prof. Alan Davison as the Governance and Public Affairs Centre’s new Academic Lead at ACU. Alan has been in senior leadership roles in the university sector for over 10 years, most recently as Dean of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). He is a passionate advocate for open inquiry, respectful debate and building dialogues across ideological divides. He has spoken and written regularly on matters of academic culture, leadership, and the role of intellectuals in society. In other words, he’s a perfect fit for GPAC which aims to bring together business, university and civic leaders – across the ideological and political spectrum – to help address complex and vexed governance challenges at the intersection of business, politics and society. We’ll share more news in Q1 2025, including introducing GPAC’s new Fellows, as well as highlighting their ongoing thought leadership and scholarly contributions. In the meantime, Merry-soon-to-be-Christmas! Link: https://lnkd.in/gwvH83Y6
