📢 Companies are increasingly being called upon by investors and other key stakeholders to align their policy advocacy with the goals of the Paris Agreement. How businesses approach climate advocacy can either establish them as climate leaders or leave them exposed to reputational and litigation risks. The first session of our upcoming ‘Engaging in Corporate Climate Advocacy’ webinar series – kindly supported by Clyde & Co – will explore the principles and governance mechanisms that companies should implement to devise effective and transparent climate advocacy strategies, as well as how to create a culture of advocacy within the business. Are you looking for ways to be a part of systematic climate progress? Here are two organizations that I recommend: ➡️ Climate Changemakers ➡️ Climate Advocacy Lab Climate Changemakers is a modern climate advocacy network built for busy productive people. We advance systems-level climate solutions through strategic advocacy for policy and key electoral priorities. A great way to participate is through its weekly Hour of Action which is a "co-working" session in which you take specific actions (such as contacting Congress to writing an opinion piece for your local newspaper) to advocate for #climatesolutions. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/es_D2Cvg The Climate Advocacy Lab equips the US climate movement with the evidence-based insights, skills, and connections needed to build durable power and win equitable solutions. The organizations provides critical #climatemovement infrastructure, making training, research, and other resource materials free and accessible. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/egsgXQWA

In a representative democracy, we elect officials to make decisions on our behalf. However, when it comes to tough issues like the environment, governments often shy away from making the necessary changes. As individuals, we can make a difference and send a clear message to our elected officials that environmental issues matter. Rather than placing blame on the government, it's important to take individual responsibility and ask ourselves what we can do today to make a positive impact. Let's have a conversation with ourselves and take action towards a healthier planet. #environmentalresponsibility #individualaction #takeaction

One of the most powerful climate action tools is advocacy. Here's 3 key ways your organisation can do that: 1️⃣ Ensure your organisation is not engaged in any advocacy, or direct and indirect lobbying, which is misaligned with climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts. 2️⃣ Engage within your organisation to ensure stakeholders at all levels are aware of the role they have to play in managing climate change impacts. 3️⃣ Engage with suppliers and value chain partners to improve the accuracy and quality of your supply chain. Collaboration across value chains can build resilience and identify new opportunities. Advocacy and engagement are an essential component of our Elevate Standard, which all Toitū climate impact certification members must comply with. Your positive engagement and advocacy across your value chain, sector, and communities can boost collaboration and accelerate decarbonisation. #ClimateAdvocacy #ClimateLeadership #CollectiveAction Austin Hansell
