Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day, a significant event for our Vision Ireland Labs team. #GAAD inspires us to consider and enhance digital accessibility in every form. Over the past few years, many companies have taken advantage of GAAD to introduce new accessibility and assistive technology updates. Companies like Apple have consistently unveiled new accessibility features to celebrate this day. Recently, the focus on assistive technology has largely been on AI-based innovations. These advancements are giving those who are blind or partially sighted unprecedented access to information. Just this week, OpenAI's GPT-4 showcased new visual capabilities, and Google I/O announced new features for the Envision glasses. Technology continues to break down barriers for individuals with sight loss, and we are optimistic that this Global Accessibility Awareness Day will bring even more progress in this area. A wide array of technologies and tools are available to support people who are blind or have low vision. Indeed, this week, PhD student #Liao_Jingyi (picture below) #demonstrated #live at #EuCNC that a #ZED #backscattering #Ambient_4G waves could be read by #4G_smartphones by enabling them to interprete quantities that smartphones already measure and monitor today: propagation channel estimates. 🚀🌟 Tech Arena 2024: Empowering Global Talent 🌟🚀 Huawei is proud to launch Tech Arena Contests 2024, providing a platform for university students to test their skills with real-world technology challenges. Unveiled at Viva Technology, these contests are designed to bridge the gap between industry and academia. Swift Liu, President of Huawei's European Research Institute, emphasized our commitment to innovation and creating value for society. With contests in Belgium, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK, participants will explore topics like AI, autonomous driving, and optical networks. Jérémie Leguay LEGUAY of Huawei Paris Research Center, a former competitor, shared insights on this year's challenge in France: designing packet scheduling algorithms for deterministic latency.
