🔍 Understanding Exia, Exib, and Exic: Intrinsic Safety in Hazardous Areas When working in hazardous environments, safety is paramount. One of the key protection methods we rely on is Intrinsic Safety (IS), classified into Exia, Exib, and Exic. But what do these classifications mean? 1️⃣ Exia The highest level of intrinsic safety. Can operate safely in Zones 0, 1, and 2 (continuous, frequent, or occasional presence of explosive gas). Designed to prevent ignition even in the case of two faults. 2️⃣ Exib Provides safety in Zones 1 and 2. Can tolerate one fault without compromising safety.
