As I recently started my internship at PIA Precision and Engineering General Electric much influenced me due to the manufacturing of planes and aerospace parts I got the enthusiasm to discover the new insights of General Electric. I just completed GE Aerospace's Explore Engineering. In the simulation I: Completed a job simulation where I advised on alternative energy sources for a hypothetical Aerospace team at GE Analyzed and compared diverse energy sources for propulsion systems, including cost, energy density, storage requirements, and how they impact design decisions -Conducted in-depth research on bypass ratio and compression ratio and their impact on turbofan engine design, including fan diameter, noise, installation considerations, material limitations, and emissions implications -Developed a technical presentation to effectively communicate the limiting factors associated with bypass and compression ratios that helped guide the decision-making for a next-generation propulsion system at GE Aerospace. #engineeringjourney #engineer #generalelectric #aerospaceindustry #mechanicalengineering

Achim joined #TLK Energy in 2022, so we've had the pleasure of getting to know him. 😊 He enjoys challenging tasks and can sometimes be found walking around in our idyllic backyard, thinking. In the office, he is also known for starting work a little later but staying longer, and he rarely works from home. So, you can count on him if you decide to work in the office.👍 Some more hard facts: Achim studied Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Energy Technology at #RWTH Aachen University. He gained practical experience through an internship at Viessmann and worked as a student assistant at the Lehrstuhl für Gebäude- und Raumklimatechnik, E.ON ERC, RWTH Aachen University. Combining theory and practice: mechanical engineering student researches at SIOS Felix Hellmann, a student at the Technical University of Ilmenau, is working on environmental measurement technology at SIOS. In an industrial environment, fluctuations in temperature, air pressure or humidity can affect high-precision laser interferometric measurements. Accurate monitoring of these parameters is therefore essential. During his 12-week internship, Felix gained valuable practical experience in the field of environmental measurement technology and calibration. Under the guidance of Dr. Ilko Rahneberg, Technical Manager, and Dr. Ralf Schüler, Head of Development, he worked on characterizing some aspects of air pressure sensor calibration and examined ways of optimizing them. On the other hand, he examined alternative pressure sensors with regard to the achievable measurement uncertainty. In some cases, the calibration process can achieve more than the data sheet values. "I am impressed by the wide range of precision measurement systems and laser interferometers at SIOS. I am particularly fascinated by SIOS' scientific claim to measure with high accuracy and low measurement uncertainty," says Felix. "Overall, I have gained valuable insights into laser interferometry, environmental calibration and sensor development at a leading company in the industry. Reason enough for me to delve deeper into the topic for my bachelor's thesis." Felix will complete and defend his thesis this summer. 🔍 Highlighting the Individual Design Projects (IDP) at TU Delft ⚙️ The Engineering Doctorate (EngD) program at TU Delft offers doctoral candidates a unique chance to apply advanced research and technical skills to real-world industrial challenges. One key aspect of the program is the Individual Design Project (IDP), where candidates work closely with industry partners to design, optimize, and implement innovative solutions. Meet Eleftherios Trasias, a second-year trainee in Chemical Engineering, who is currently working on an exciting project within the FORGe initiative (Furnace Atmosphere Model for Oxide Reduction and Decarburization in Galvanizing), a collaboration between Tata Steel Nederland and Delft University of Technology, supported by the Materials Innovation Institute. Here's what Eleftherios Trasias has to say about the experience so far: "Over the past few months, I’ve been developing mathematical models applied in CFD simulations to better understand and optimize the furnace atmosphere in the galvanizing process. The FORGe project is aimed at improving efficiency in steel production while contributing towards a more sustainable future. Being part of a collaboration that includes experts from both academia and industry has been incredibly enriching. It has allowed me to develop my technical expertise in CFD modeling while seeing the real-world impact of our work on manufacturing processes. This experience has not only sharpened my technical skills but also enhanced my ability to collaborate across disciplines." Excited to share the outcomes of my recent research internship at Nanosol Energy! 🌟 During my time there, I conducted a comprehensive Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis on an Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzer (AEMWE). Our main goal was to gain deeper insights into its operational mechanisms and optimize key parameters, particularly the flow field geometry. AEMWEs are gaining traction as a sustainable solution for green hydrogen production, and our analysis aimed to contribute to their efficiency and performance in the clean energy landscape. We delved into the effects of various flow field geometries and optimized the best-performing one, considering the constraints of manufacturing processes like CNC machining. This research sheds light on crucial interactions and provides valuable information for refining the design and operational parameters of AEMWEs.
