This is great. But we have to understand that most cancer is a pathology diagnosis based on other factors such as cytogenetics and cell morphology characteristics and rarely a radiological diagnosis. In addition to this there are different types of breast cancer such as ductal cancer, angiosarcoma, pagets etc. All these are based on histology. While AI may provide valuable insights into predictive modelling it should be founded on the basis of disease diagnostic approaches as a whole. Mammography is based on x rays passing through different tissue densities to finally display this on a film. While breast lump size increase can be observed through time, it would have to be correlated to other clinical data to truly predict if it is cancer as fibrocystic changes are more common

This often leads to aggressive treatments and the anxiety of uncertain outcomes. Identifying patients at risk before the disease onset is crucial. In 2019, #researchersfrom Massachusetts General Hospital and CSAIL (MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory) created a deep learning model capable of predicting, from a mammogram, whether a patient is likely to develop breast cancer in the future, specifically within 5 years. Researchers trained an #AIto recognize subtle patterns in breast tissue that are precursors to malignancy. This breakthrough can transform early detection, allowing for timely interventions and better outcomes for patients. Artificial intelligence is undeniably a powerful tool. When used well, it unlocks immense potential in the research, #detection, and treatment of diseases like cancer. #AIinHealthcare #EarlyDetection #CancerResearch #HealthTech #Innovation
