-I just finished the IBMz Inter-skill Badge called Mainframe Application Programmer - IBM Development Environment - Foundations 2.5. I really loved the format of this course. So, the badge consists of two sections, 1) application programming basics, and 2) application programming environment overview. I felt the first section was a great refresher of what I know such as Db2, catalogs, datasets, JCLs, and so forth, a bit of cloud. So, it was nice to refresh those concepts in my brain. The second part of the course, which was a nice challenge =), was learning more about the environment of application programming, which included learning about transaction process and getting into the history of programming languages such a COBOL, FORTRAN, and etc. I was happy that I finally learned what FORTRAN is and what it is used for, since I used to see my dad using that software and asking him, in a confused fashion, about what that gibberish was when I was in like 6th grade. Overall, I really enjoyed the certification and learned a lot.
