We are excited to see significant progress on the proposed BC-Yukon grid connection, a key move to strengthen the energy infrastructure that supports the mining industry in the Yukon Territory. The Government of Yukon is moving forward with pre-feasibility studies for a 765-kilometre high-voltage transmission line to connect the Yukon grid to the North American power grid through B.C. These studies will be supported by up to $40 million in conditional funding from Natural Resources Canada’s Critical Minerals Infrastructure Fund Program (“CMIF”), pending final due diligence. Enhanced energy infrastructure in the Territory creates opportunities for Fireweed’s projects in the Macpass District: improved project economics, reduced GHGs, and better overall environmental performance. This is a great day for critical minerals in the Yukon and in Canada. https://hubs.li/Q02QF49K0

Queensland is breaking new ground with Stanmore Resources' pioneering gas-to-electricity project at the South Walker Creek metallurgical coal mine. This initiative, the first of its kind in the state, marks the debut project under the $520 million Low Emissions Investment Partnerships (LEIP) program. Set to operate for at least 15 years, the project aims to capture coal seam methane—a byproduct typically lost during mining—and convert it into electricity. By applying advanced technology usually reserved for underground mining to an open-cut site, Stanmore Resources is setting a new benchmark for emissions reduction in the coal industry. The project includes the construction of a new 20-megawatt gas-fired power station at the South Walker Creek mine, slated for completion by 2027. This power station will meet the mine’s entire electricity needs, reinforcing Queensland's commitment to sustainable energy practices. The construction phase alone is expected to create 30 jobs, adding to the existing workforce of 1,200 at the mine. The LEIP program, funded by Queensland’s coal royalties, is a cornerstone of the state's strategy to decarbonise its resources sector while investing back into regional communities. If successful, Stanmore’s project could accelerate emissions reductions across the broader coal industry, paving the way for a more sustainable future. #energynews #miningnews #infrastructurenews #recruitmentnews #recruitment

The past few years have been challenging for numerous copper projects across the U.S. Nevertheless, Arizona Sonoran Copper Company Inc. (ASCU:TSX | ASCUF:OTCQX) 's Cactus Mine, Highland Copper Company Inc.'s Copperwood Project in Michigan, Florence Copper's proposed mine in Arizona, U.S. Gold Corp.'s CK Gold Project in Wyoming, and Hudbay Minerals Inc.'s Copperworld Project have successfully secured full permitting. We commend all five companies and their teams for this significant achievement and look forward to seeing them responsibly contribute to copper production as the U.S. transitions toward greater reliance on clean energy technologies. However, there is still much work to be done. According to S&P Global, copper demand is expected to double by 2050. To meet future needs, the U.S. must capitalize on this momentum and advance additional copper projects. Key opportunities include the development of NewRange Copper Nickel's NorthMet Project, Twin Metals Minnesota LLC's proposed copper-nickel-cobalt mine, and Resolution Copper's proposed copper mine in Arizona.

NEWS - Oroco Announces 22.2% After-Tax IRR and $1.48 Billion NPV for its Santo Tomas Project #copper $OCO.V $ORRCF Oroco’s newly announced PEA for its Santo Tomas Porphyry Copper Project in Mexico establishes it as one of the most capital-efficient large-scale, low-cost independently owned copper projects in the world and provides investors with excellent leverage to rising copper prices, the forecast commodity super-cycle and rising levels of sector M&A. With an NPV of $1.5 billion, annual revenue of $1 billion, a Life-of-mine of over 2 decades, rapid CAXEP payback, high IRR and low C1 cash costs, Santo Tomas is highly ranked amongst a peer group of increasingly scarce large new copper assets able to meet the world’s huge appetite for copper production growth. https://lnkd.in/ghXjVdBh

Last week, Senators Kyrsten Sinema (AZ) and Mike Lee (UT) introduced the Senate version of the Critical Mineral Consistency Act, a bipartisan initiative aimed at strengthening America’s critical mineral supply chain. The Critical Mineral Consistency Act mirrors legislation introduced in the U.S. House by Congressman Ciscomani in June and seeks to make critical mineral mining projects, including copper, eligible for the FAST-41 permitting process. This program enhances agency coordination and sets a two-year target for project completion, making federal environmental reviews more efficient, predictable, and timely for qualifying projects. By incorporating "Critical Materials" defined by the Department of Energy into the statutory definition of "Critical Minerals" as established by the USGS, the legislation aligns both lists, streamlines permitting, and reinforces the domestic supply chain, facilitating copper and other critical material projects in Arizona. If copper is recognized as a critical mineral by the USGS, the bill will also provide tax incentives to stimulate investment in domestic mining, lowering costs and encouraging exploration and production. By creating a more consistent and efficient regulatory framework, the bill aims to increase U.S. production of crucial minerals necessary for renewable energy, electronics, and defense industries. The federal government is contributing up to $75 million, with an additional $120 million provided by B.C.'s Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure to upgrade Highways 37, 37A, and 51, covering approximately 800 km. They'll probably need buildings too! We can build those: https://lnkd.in/gJuEHRQe. Other planned improvements include widening shoulders, creating pullouts for slow-moving vehicles, establishing chain-up/chain-off areas, and enhancing WiFi access along these routes. #criticalminerals #building #buildings #construction #steel #mining #exploration #prospecting #ores #mines #minerals #energy Mining Association of Canada Mining Association of BC Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) BC Regional Mining Alliance CIM | Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) Canadian Energy Executive Association AME - Association for Mineral Exploration Canadian Fuels Association - Association canadienne des carburants Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters Canadian Gas Association NWT & NU Chamber of Mines Canadian Mineral Processors CMP BC/YK Explorers and Producers Association of Canada (EPAC) Canadian Heavy Oil Association Trade & Invest British Columbia Business Council of British Columbia Greater Vancouver Board of Trade
