If you work in the Energy Industry and missed this seminar on mental health in the industry, then sign up for the next one to hear how the Task Force is continuing to evolve and advance the Mental Health Charter and how we support the companies that have signed up to it.
Thanks to all who turned out for the first Mental Health in Energy seminar kindly sponsored by Michelle Crawford FCIPD from Dolphin Drilling. Our industry chaplain, Rev Michael Mair did a fantastic job at setting the scene after his first year in the role. It was also great to hear from Simon Lee Maryan and Ann C McCreath on their experiences in using the charter to guide improvements in Mental Health. A fruitful Q&A session rounded off what was hopefully the first of many such seminars with charter members. 🌍 On this #WorldMentalHealthDay, we are proud to launch a comprehensive four-part video series dedicated to mental health in the offshore environment. Our teams face unique challenges as routine in their everyday drilling operations, and prioritizing mental health and wellbeing is key to facing those challenges with confidence. 🔍 Offshore work comes with distinct stressors—physical isolation, demanding schedules, and extended time away from home can significantly impact mental health. Our video series addresses these challenges directly, offering tailored strategies and support mechanisms to foster a healthier, more resilient workforce. 🎥 In the first part of the series, we explore the specific mental health issues that can arise in offshore settings, emphasizing the importance of early recognition and intervention. The second instalment provides practical techniques for enhancing personal well-being, including stress management and mindfulness practices. 🤝 The third episode highlights the value of peer support, offering guidance on how to check in with colleagues and create an open dialogue about mental health. Finally, our last video underscores the critical role of leadership in cultivating a supportive work environment. 🧑🤝🧑 Seadrill’s dedication to mental health extends beyond just today; it’s a year-round commitment to our most valuable asset—our people. #SettingTheStandard #Seadrill #oilandgas #oilandgasindustry #OneSeadrill

Balancing mental health while grappling with personal issues, (whether it's a breakup, issues with your spouse, children, parents etc) becomes even tougher when working in the offshore industry. The isolation and intense work conditions can make feelings of loneliness and heartache seem even more overwhelming. It's easy to feel disconnected from support systems back home, and the constant pressure can make emotional struggles feel insurmountable. Finding ways to reach out for help, whether through onboard support networks or self-care strategies, is vital. Acknowledging and addressing these feelings is crucial to maintaining both emotional and professional balance amidst the challenges of offshore life. Above all, know your limits and keep your head in the game, it can literally mean life or death. #offshore #offshorelife #oilandgas #operator #mentalhealth

Today is World Mental Health day. We at Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa highlighted the day with several global live events where employees all over the world could join in digital sessions. I was honored to participate in a panel discussion on the crucial and very important topic of Mental Health at the workplace. It was an enriching experience to share insights and learn from my amazing colleagues Valentin Leber, Margaretha Lindblom och Beatriz Taulois Lidington. And thank you all colleagues round the globe that joined the session - we had participants from all over Europe, India, Brazil, US, UAE, Algeria, South Africa, Kazakhstan... and the list can go on! 🌸 Good mental health is essential for overall well-being. It reduces stress and conflicts and foster motivation and supports a collaborative and innovative work environment. 🌸 Creating an environment where open dialogues are encouraged, where we as managers role model communicative leadership and psychological safety is prioritized in all levels and parts of the company is vital. 🌸 As a mother, I want to be a role model for my children and future generations. I strive to show the importance of a good work-life-balance including prioritizing my mental health. Just in the same way I want them to prioritize their mental health in school, in relations with friends and of course - in future professions. Sharing personal experiences and being open about challenges, can foster a supportive and empathetic workplace culture. Let's continue to prioritize mental health and support each other in creating a psychologically safe and healthy work environment. Remember that you are never alone! #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealth #SiemensEnergy #WorkplaceWellbeing #MentalHealthAwareness

Men’s Mental Health Month: Supporting Construction Workers Onshore and Offshore This Men’s Mental Health Month, let's shine a light on the importance of self-care and open conversations among men working in construction, both onshore and offshore. These environments are physically demanding and often come with high stress and isolation, making mental health support crucial. For those onshore, long hours on construction sites and away from their families can take a toll. Regular breaks and supportive interactions with colleagues can significantly impact mental well-being. Offshore workers face unique challenges, such as extended periods away from family and friends, which can lead to feelings of loneliness and isolation. Creating a supportive community on the platform can help mitigate these feelings. Open conversations about mental health can break down the stigma and encourage men to seek the help they need. Whether onshore or offshore, it’s essential to foster an environment where workers feel comfortable discussing their mental health and accessing resources. This month, let’s commit to prioritising mental health in the construction industry and indeed any other working environment. Encourage your team to take breaks, talk openly about their experiences, and support each other. Together, we can create a healthier, more supportive work environment. Remember, taking care of your mental health is not just beneficial for you but for everyone around you. Let’s support each other in this journey towards better mental well-being. Talk, stay strong and stay safe. #MensMentalHealth #Talk #SummitHeavyLift #PeakLiftingPerformance
