💡 At DirectPharma, we’re raising awareness for World Diabetes Day! Today we want to spread knowledge about diabetes and emphasise the importance of prevention and proactive management. With millions affected worldwide, diabetes can lead to serious health complications if unmanaged. This year, our team is focused on making a meaningful impact through education and essential resources. In Romania, the incidence of diabetes has risen steadily over the past decade. In 2021, there were 431.7 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, according to the National Institute for Public Health (INSP). And in 2023, there were almost 1.23 million patients with diabetes in treatment, according to CNAS. Our efforts centre on increasing access to blood sugar testing, helping identify undiagnosed individuals, and connecting them with the care they need. Together, through early detection, healthier lifestyle choices, and regular screenings, we can work toward a healthier future for all. #WorldDiabetesDay #DirectPharma

With 529 million individuals living with diabetes worldwide in 2021, it has become a pressing global epidemic. A 2021 study highlighted that the age-standardized prevalence of diabetes in the LATAM region was around 11.3%, with projections suggesting it could exceed 15% by 2050. You can read more about this study here: https://lnkd.in/eRpv9G6k At Ceibo Health, we've collaborated with numerous partners to bring essential medical treatments and devices to the LATAM region to combat diabetes. One of our past projects involved conducting primary and secondary research on the treatment landscape, pricing, and market access for insulin pumps in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Mexico. As diabetes rates continue to rise in the LATAM region and globally, our dedicated team is here to facilitate the introduction of vital diabetes treatments to the market. #marketaccess, #insulinpumps, #diabetes

🌍 World Diabetes Day: Making diabetes care accessible for all 🌍 On this #WorldDiabetesDay, PATH Chief Global Health Programs Officer Kammerle Schneider highlights a critical issue in diabetes care: the high costs that millions in low- and middle-income countries face to manage their condition. For many, limited access to affordable insulin, safe needles, and blood glucose monitoring supplies means they’re forced to make difficult decisions, like reusing needles or skipping tests. At PATH, we’re working to bridge these gaps through partnerships like the Coalition for Access to NCD Medicines & Products and innovative solutions like the Diabetes CarePak—a co-packaged kit that brings essential tools together in one accessible package. But sustainable change requires coordinated action at all levels. This is why we’re advocating for national policies that prioritise affordable diabetes care through targeted support and financing, making it easier for health systems to integrate diabetes management at the primary care level. With a collective commitment, we can ensure everyone has the resources to manage #diabetes safely, affordably, and with dignity. This #WorldDiabetesDay, I’m encouraged to see a more action-oriented discussion focusing on the staggering barriers that many people living with #diabetes face in accessing the medicine and supplies they need to manage this chronic disease. Out-of-pocket costs for people living with diabetes can be catastrophic and often drive families into poverty. Action on this problem is long overdue. Now is the right time to address this. With the upcoming High-Level Meeting on NCDs and Mental Health and the 2025 G20 Summit, we’re already seeing important plans (as seen in the video from my colleague @Kammerle Schneider below) to prioritize innovative financing mechanisms to lower out-of-pocket health expenditures for people living with NCDs. PATH has a long history in working to improve access to NCD and diabetes care. As a member of the Coalition for Access to NCD Medicines & Products, we are advocating for this change with stakeholders ahead of next year’s important meetings. In partnership with the Coalition, PATH is also implementing the Diabetes CarePak project, a co-bundling solution to make essential diabetes supplies available in one place for an affordable price. This is one of several innovations that can make a real and positive difference to people living with diabetes and their families. We have a chance to change the trajectory of diabetes and other NCDs. Let’s keep the momentum going so they get the attention and investments needed to slow the rising burden of NCDs.

The Coalition is working hard to improve access to #NCD medicines and products ahead of next year's important advocacy moments. After many years of insufficient investment in NCDs, it is high time that governments, donors, and other policymakers prioritize this urgent need. To combat the unrelenting burden of NCDs, build resilience against future disease threats, and achieve universal health coverage, collective action is the only way forward. This #WorldDiabetesDay, join us and our partners in collective action to improve access to affordable medicines and products for people living with #diabetes and other chronic diseases.
