Invdev’s Post

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting an amazing SurreyDevs meetup at our Woking office. We welcomed the SurreyDevs community, along with two great speakers who delivered insightful talks – Daniel Camilleri, CTO of BOW, and Professor Alan Brown from the University of Exeter. Daniel kicked off the meetup by showcasing the groundbreaking work BOW is doing to democratise robotics software development. With 99.5% of software developers not specialised in robotics, BOW bridges this gap by enabling non-roboticists to contribute code to a marketplace. Their platform allows 'decision-making' code to help robots develop new skills. Daniel also introduced Bowie, BOW’s robot-dog, who left the audience in awe with a captivating demonstration of BOW’s impressive work. Professor Alan Brown, a Professor of Digital Economy and the recently appointed Director of AI for Digital Leaders followed. Alan shared his insights on the importance AI plays in the public sector and the challenges of scaling AI in large organisations. As the author of ‘Surviving and Thriving in the Age of AI’, Alan discussed the conflicts that established organisations face when trying to implement AI or any large-scale digital transformation initiatives. At Invdev, we are incredibly proud to sponsor SurreyDevs. This is why we do it – bringing together a community of like-minded individuals to learn, discuss, and connect.
