All to better prepare the future warfighter to operate across warfighting domains and functions in tomorrow's digital battlefield while supporting the Coalition/Joint Force. Booz Allen has made a strategic investment in Albedo’s low-flying satellites are designed to provide surveillance from very low Earth orbit, flying at altitudes of 200 to 300 miles. That allows the satellites to gather high-resolution imagery without having to expose aircraft crews or drones to the risk of being shot down by adversary weapons….Having a bird’s-eye view of the entire battlefield, updated every few minutes with 10-centimeter resolution, would significantly improve compared to current technologies. VLEO satellites have advantages over Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites: 1. **Improved Resolution and Accuracy**: VLEO satellites, being closer to the Earth, can capture higher-resolution imagery. 2. **Reduced Latency**: The closer proximity to Earth means that communication between VLEO satellites and ground stations has lower latency. 3. **Enhanced Stealth and Detection**: VLEO satellites can be harder to detect from the ground due to their lower orbit. 4. **Increased Frequency of Passes**: VLEO satellites orbit the Earth more frequently than LEO satellites. https://lnkd.in/e9uwtqGe

🛰️Airbus-built SpainSat NG-I arrives in Cape Canaveral for launch. The first of Europe’s two most advanced #military telecommunication satellites, #SpainSatNG-I from the Spanish operator #Hisdesat, has arrived in Cape Canaveral, in the US, on board an Antonov cargo aircraft coming from the Airbus Defence and Space facilities in Toulouse, France. The launch is expected to take place on the night of the 28th of January (29th early morning in Europe), on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.   Airbus Defence and Space, as prime contractor, has delivered this state-of-the-art satellite to Hisdesat, which will operate it to ensure secure communications for the Spanish Armed Forces from the second half of 2025.    Based on a Eurostar Neo platform, the spacecraft has been designed, integrated and tested at Airbus in Toulouse. The satellite payload, which includes the innovative X-band transmitting and receiving active antenna system developed by Airbus in Spain, represents more than 45% of the satellite and was designed and built entirely in Spain together with Thales Alenia Space and a significant number of Spanish space companies. The vehicle will carry 30 payloads but no passengers. 🛰️ AST SpaceMobile has raised $400mn through a convertible debt to ramp up manufacturing for its direct-to-smartphone constellation. 📡On January 22nd, Rocket Lab announced it will launch eight of OroraTech’s smallsats on an Electron rocket from Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand. This constellation of satellites detects and monitors wildfires, providing early warnings of fires to alert first responders. 🚀 The U.S. Space Force’s Commercial Satellite Communications Office (CSCO) has announced contracting opportunities worth approximately $2.3 billion for commercial satellite services over the coming year. 🛡️ Redwire Space has expanded into defense with its $925 million purchase of Edge Autonomy. The space infrastructure company is acquiring a drone manufacturer whose technology has been deployed with Ukraine’s military forces.
