Queenstown Airport is proud to have entered the global Airport Carbon Accreditation programme at Level 4+ 'Transition'. Since undertaking our first carbon audit in 2019, we have reduced our operational absolute emissions by 71% and are targeting an 85% reduction by 2028. That progress is based on a commitment to electrification, transition to a certified renewable electricity supply, upgrading of assets and infrastructure to increase efficiency, and a decision to stop using a diesel generator for supplementary power during periods of peak demand. Aviation is a challenging industry to decarbonise. We've set ambitious sustainability targets and invested heavily to reduce our carbon footprint as quickly as possible, although there is a lot more work to be done. We are now setting our sights on Level 5, which is the highest tier in the ACA programme. We are thrilled to announce that Riverse has been accredited by the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA)! ✈️🌱 When talking about carbon emission, the idea that comes up the most is “planes pollute so much” ! And this is undeniable. We also know mobility remains key : airports bring undeniable benefits to the regions they serve – connecting places, people, and products with a range unmatched by any other mode of transport. Airplanes will not stop flying yet, so we have to minimize the damage. 👉 Airports already address their CO2 emissions in a variety of ways : better insulation and energy efficiency, switching to green energy sources, investing in hybrid, electric or renewable gas-powered service vehicles, reducing runway taxiing times, implementing green landing processes.. 👉To go even further, they can VOLUNTARILY invest in green projects. The Airport Carbon Accreditation ensures these projects are of high integrity. By buying carbon credits from Riverse's certified projects, airports support quality & impactful greentechs. Enhancing their own efforts rather than replacing them. #airports#carboncredits#integrity

Earlier this year, I had the honour of joining Paul Polman and Marjan Rintel as co-chair of Project SkyPower, an urgent initiative dedicated to making e-SAF (electro-sustainable aviation fuel) a commercial reality in Europe within this decade. Few industries face a more complex transition away from fossil fuels than aviation. To achieve a lower-emissions future and meet the increasingly stringent fuel mandates in the UK and EU, unlocking the potential of e-SAF is critical. Project SkyPower aims to drive that progress, and I’m proud to be part of this mission, leveraging Arcadia eFuels' expertise in developing commercial-scale e-SAF production facilities across Europe. With the dedication and expertise of our members from across the aviation value chain, we are poised to deliver tangible impact. The action plan published today sets out what needs to happen to get first-of-a-kind projects in Europe to final investment decision before the end of next year and operational by 2030, tipping the technology behind e-SAF to scale. Beyond the obvious climate benefits of a lower-emissions fuel, a thriving e-SAF sector could create jobs, attract future investment and build trust that our industries can transform themselves for a new, more sustainable world. Let’s get to it. Read more on the Project SkyPower website: https://lnkd.in/gJSEbYhF
