TAITRA and JETRO - Japan External Trade Organization have long maintained a strong partnership, working together to expand trade between #Taiwan and #Japan. At the 17th TAITRA–JETRO Trade Joint Conference in Tokyo, the focus was on: 🌍🔗𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Expanding into the African market and advancing the "Taiwan-Japan Third Country Cooperation" project, which developed 97 projects in ASEAN from 2017-2023, over half in supply chain collaboration. 🌾🐟𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀: JETRO aims to enhance the processing and direct export of Japanese products to Taiwan. Taiwan, in turn, is sharing diverse marketing strategies, such as establishing a Taiwan Good Food Pavilion and promoting low-carbon packaging. 🏢💡𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: JETRO shared strategies for business efficiency, and TAITRA presented 3A Strategy (Automation, AI, Action) to improve performance. JETRO also mentioned the Food Taipei Mega Shows 2024 received fantastic feedback from Japanese exhibitors, showcasing the success of TAITRA and JETRO's collaboration. March's JETRO report offers some positive insights about the increasing number of foreign-affiliated companies operating in Japan [ Source: https://bit.ly/3Kt6bti ]: * 7,103 foreign firms as of October 2024, up from 6,842 a year earlier * Manufacturing (15%) and services/wholesale/retail (45%+) dominate * ~70% of head offices in the Kanto region, ~60% in Tokyo alone * 80% of corporate planning/management functions based in Tokyo * Longest-established businesses tend to have higher sales, with 70% coming from those established in Japan before 1980 * Over half intend to expand/strengthen their Japan operations * Hiring experienced Japanese talent remains a key challenge, with particular difficulties securing IT, technical, sales & marketing professionals Despite the challenges, the report highlights Japan's continued attractiveness as a business destination for foreign companies, driven by its vast market, skilled workforce, and strategic location. #ForeignInvestment #JapanBusiness #GlobalExpansion
