What's to do with the new increased interests of startups in Japan and why many are struggling If you’re #business #startup is thinking of penetrating into #Japan #Market You might need to know this "onion layer" metaphor , 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘴 & 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴, 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘤𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘴 & 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵. Business (Organizations & Corporations): Corporate Culture- Emphasizes teamwork, long-term goals, kaizen, and nemawashi for decision-making. 3. Societal: Community Involvement: Strong community focus, volunteerism, and shared responsibility in local governance. 4. National Country 5. Global Layer (World) Individual values like discipline and community harmony influence business practices, emphasizing teamwork. A strong culture. This creates a society that values community involvement, cultural heritage Nationally policies focus on economic growth, technological advancement, environmental regulations, and infrastructure development to support societal needs. These interconnected layers—personal, business, societal, national, and global—work in tandem, where individual actions impact business strategies, reflect societal norms, drive national policies, and shape Japan's global presence. **************** How do societal norms influence innovation?

Groundbreaking Study on Joint Ventures in Japan Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has released an in-depth study on joint ventures between Japanese and foreign companies. This study, featuring 11 diverse case studies, highlights how these collaborations drive business growth and innovation across various industries. While the report covers a broad spectrum of industry sectors, I particularly find the projects involving AI and digital technologies more interesting. For example, Google's partnership with Plaid utilizes AI to optimize advertising services, and the joint venture between KDDI and Accenture, ARISE Analytics, focuses on advancing data analysis through AI. Other notable collaborations include Tokyo Gas and Octopus Energy, which aim to expand renewable energy solutions in Japan, and BASF's investment in Toda Kogyo to enhance battery material production. Each case study discloses the involved companies and details the strategic benefits of these international partnerships. The comprehensive report showcases how these joint ventures increase value-driven innovation and expand Japanese companies' global reach. Unfortunately, the report is currently only available in Japanese: https://lnkd.in/g964DGeJ #JapanTech #AIInnovation #BusinessGrowth #Collaboration #TechTrends #GlobalBusiness #InvestInJapan

We have heard it all too often: Japanese businesses are rigid, slow to change and risk-averse. And maybe, if you have a bird-eye's view at Japan's business scene, there is some truth to this. Massive corporations and public institutions take forever to digitalize their operations, small family-run businesses still communicate using the proverbial fax machines, and the life-time employment system sends HR costs skyrocketing... If you take a closer look, however, you might find that there is a lot of flexibility, risk-taking and willingness to change in the small and medium-sized Japanese businesses... Do these traits manifest in the same way as they do in the western hemisphere? Learn more from our conversation with Dr. Joe H. on "The Intersection between SMEs & Startups: The Global Top Niche" Find links in the comments. #Japan #business #sme #culture #management #sustainability

As professionals, we often prioritize innovation and disruption, but what can we learn from companies that have stood the test of time? Japan boasts over 33,000 businesses that are at least a century old—56% of all such companies worldwide. These enduring enterprises, known as shinise, emphasize long-term sustainability and customer trust over short-term gains. Take Kongo Gumi, for example—a construction company founded in 578 AD, boasting over 1,400 years of continuous operation. They've built iconic structures like Osaka's Shitenno-ji Temple, commissioned by Prince Shotoku. Kongo Gumi isn't alone: 3,100 shinise are over 200 years old, 140 surpass 500 years, and 19 have exceeded a millennium. 🛠🏯 What makes shinise remarkable is their ability to blend tradition with innovation, maintain deep community ties, and demonstrate resilience through natural disasters, world wars, financial crises, and pandemics. Perhaps embracing our roots alongside modern advancements is the key to enduring success in today's ever-changing landscape. #Shinise #Japan #Business #Sustainability #Longevity #Tradition #Innovation #Culture #History #Entrepreneurship
