As a company at the forefront of AI-enabled products and services, I am encouraged by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT)'s commitment to advancing research in this field. Today , I had the previlege of attending a webinar organized by the U.S Department of Veteran Affairs on "Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to advance implementation Science Methods". The discussion centered on how AI can be a game changer in addressing key implementation Science challenges, particularly in areas of: Equity -Ensuring that AI-powered interventions are inclusive and tailored to diverse populations. Speed-Accelerating research process and real world application of findings. Rigor- Enhancing the precision and quality of evidence in implementation Science. It's exciting to see the potential of AI to augment implementation Strategies and methodologies, fostering more efficient, equitable, and impactful outcomes in healthcare research and beyond. The #AIActionSummit 2025 is set to take place on February 10-11, 2025, in Paris, France. The summit aims to convene international experts and stakeholders to deliberate on the responsible advancement of artificial intelligence for the public good. The Paris Peace Forum has announced a compelling #CallforProjects centered around AI in conjunction with the summit. This call invites global initiatives leveraging AI for societal benefits. An expert jury will handpick up to 50 projects, to be revealed in mid-December 2024 and showcased at the summit. The #AIAction Summit will encompass five tracks, with a specific focus on AI for climate, healthcare, education, economic development, and safety, which was initially a standalone summit recalibrated for this event. Collaborations across governments, industries, academia, and civil society are pivotal at the summit to expedite the ethical development and application of AI for public welfare. While not directly linked to the AI ACTION Summit 2025, the #RAISE Summit is a notable AI event in Europe, slated for July 8th & 9th, 2025. Both events may share common themes and attendees, further cementing Paris as a crucial hub for AI discourse and innovation. Expert Consultation: This consultation creates a space for experts from civil society and academia to contribute their visions for the #AIActionSummit. This consultation is organized by The Future Society in partnership with the French government, Sciences Po, the AI & Society Institute, le Conseil national du numérique (#CNNUm) and Make.org We are seeking your #insights, in order to inform concrete #deliverables and #actionable proposals to support the Summit’s agenda-setting and outcomes. Findings from this consultation will be: • Synthesized and presented to the Summit organizers throughout the event's preparation. • Presented to global leaders and policymakers before and during the Summit. • Made publicly available, enhancing the global conversation on AI governance. Last week we had a great conversation with Helder Touças from the City of Lisbon about the growing importance of AI literacy. It's clear that the conversation has rapidly evolved from digital literacy to the need for AI literacy, a shift that’s critical as AI continues to reshape our technological and social landscapes. As part of the Manchester's Digital Strategy Team and my work on AI solutions with Caddy at Citizens Advice Stockport, Oldham, Rochdale and Trafford, I’ve seen firsthand the necessity of ensuring that everyone is part of this conversation. It’s not just about understanding how to use AI but also about grasping what it is, its potential, and the challenges it brings. One of the standout initiatives addressing this is The Manchester Metropolitan University AI People Panel. This incredible programme actively involves citizens in discussions about how and why AI solutions are designed and deployed, ensuring that the public has a voice in shaping AI’s future. The Victorian AI Skills and Jobs Symposium at the Cremorne Digital Hub yesterday was phenomenal. The aim of the event was to discuss what is needed to make Victoria a leading #AI player on a global scale. Besides brilliant presentations from Professor Rocky Scopelliti and Siew Lee Seow on Australia’s innovation investment and the need to enhance productivity, the audience had the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops across key priority areas. Our discussion on industry and government #partnerships generated a remarkable range of ideas to encourage AI innovation, share knowledge and drive economic growth. From a mapping tool to showcase AI adoption by local industries to inclusive pathways for capacity building and job creation in the technology sector. At the Monash Data Futures Institute, we have a mission to advance #interdisciplinary AI applications for social good. Events like this symposium are extremely valuable and demonstrate that when we work together, and foster partnerships between academia, industry and government, we can co-develop innovative approaches to make Victoria a global leader in AI. The 1st Industry Collaboration and Transfer Exchange on AI, titled "From Research to Market," is scheduled for May 6-7, 2024, in Saarbrücken, Germany. This event focuses on fostering collaboration between industry and academia in the field of Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence. It aims to bridge the gap between industry needs and research capabilities through keynote speeches, workshops, and networking. Workshops will cover topics like generative AI, AI/ML model robustness, data quality, and privacy. This congress is a platform for direct interaction between industry professionals and researchers, facilitating the transfer of knowledge and expertise for practical applications.
