While preparing tonight’s broadcasts and striving to think outside the box, finding unexplored angles… journalism is a profession that doesn’t adhere to working hours or office locations; for a journalist, news is like air, water, and food. #Journalism #Broadcasting #Innovation #News #Media #ThinkOutsideTheBox #BreakingNews #JournalistLife #PassionForNews

Both CNN and Reuters report today that they will add paywalls to their websites. Many other news media outlets already have paywalls, while others offer some free content with registration and email address. In my business, subscribing to multiple news outlets (and supporting journalists!) is a must - including mainstream print and broadcast media, business and sector-specific trade pubs. How do you evaluate what news you're willing to pay for? What are some of your trusted, go-to news sources these days? #PR #comms #journalism #news #media #marketing #communications #reporter #editor

As a PR officer, always, always, always, follow up the press release or that pitch with the journalist you sent to. Journalists in the newsrooms receive alot in their emails that your release or pitch risk getting lost among the many. Also, the journalist may not be in the newsroom on that day and you go to your business or sleep in the evening, expecting a storylink soon or a story at the next prime time news on TV or the next day in the newspapers. Following up also communicates seriousness on your part and the value you have attached to the story. #followup #dofollowup #followthepressrelease

I agree with this perspective. An already difficult environment for journalists has become even more challenging, with fewer safeguards in place to protect the integrity of reporting. Public trust in government-subsidized media takes another setback. #news #journalism #canadianmedia
There was a time when newsrooms across this country had checks and balances in place that would've prevented this from happening. That this report "did not meet our expected and required high editorial standards" rings hollow. Bell Media hacked, slashed, and shuttered newsrooms across this country with wild abandon. They tossed aside many of the gatekeepers who would have never allowed this to make it to air, the ones who actually did ensure the product was held to a higher editorial standard. That this happened is egregious, but this is the chickens coming home to roost for Bell. It is the inevitability of media convergence that started all those years ago, no thanks to the CRTC and the Competition Bureau. What's truly unfortunate is that in this charged political environment, it's made it even more difficult for journalists to do their job properly and effectively. #news #journalism #canadianmedia

What we want from our media is the ability to learn, keep an open mind, and simply report facts, not embellish them with activist opinion. Gower manages a fail on all counts. If he ever cares to read posts here, I would acknowledge the current pain, disbelief and cognitive dissonance, he is experiencing and encourage him to continue on his growth opportunity, rather than deny change and remain transfixed by the faulty and combative hobgoblins of his own perception. These are the widely accepted steps of the of the grief cycle. Denial Anger Bargaining Depression Acceptance Gower has moved from denial to anger, the bargaining is still in play, depression will come when this does not bear fruit, many people become stuck at this point in their lives, with cognitive treatment identifying the initial grief factors and working to reframe them as a growth opportunity, to arrive at the acceptance of the event and learn from the experience. Objective reporting of this could have included such a perspective, its also a failing of the reporting to use the anger as a motivator to attract attention and viewership. The reporting style in this case is also exactly symptomatic of why the media is losing credibility with the general public.

TV3 journalist and TV host Patrick Gower has slammed “keyboard warriors” claiming the media is getting what it deserves for going “woke” amid mass job losses. 😂🤡 #karma

NEWSPAPER VS BROADCAST HEADLINES Whilst newspaper headlines can be incomplete sentences, without words like the and a, radio and television news must be in complete sentences. #NewsWriting101

The Associated Press reporter was BUSTED and caught on a hot mic!! An AP News reporter reportedly attempted to cut the feed when Robert F. Kennedy Jr. began pointing out the bias of mainstream media. “Let’s go.” “Let’s break off after this.” “Let’s wrap this up.” The "journalists" seemingly repeatedly sighed and made obvious noises of frustration, unaware that their mics were live during the broadcast. REPOST and expose them!! #thinblueline #lawenforcement
