✨ Did you know Gothenburg is the "Master of collaboration"?✨ Because we are perfectly positioned by the sea, international trade has been a natural part of our development, and interacting with others has fostered a culture of openness and collaboration. Since back in the days, we have developed and fine-tuned our collaborative skills, and now we're actually killing it. International visitors coming to check out smart technical solutions are often more interested in how we solved it together rather than in the solution itself. We also have three special initiatives that I must tell you about: 🍀 A new community and innovation cluster is being built by the newly formed Steptura in collaboration with Volvo Cars and the City of Gothenburg. It will be a meeting place for collaboration with the goal of developing tomorrow's sustainable innovations. A new name is also on the way... 🍀 Volvo Group and Daimler Trucks, two of the world's largest truck manufacturers, are jointly starting a company with its HQ in Gothenburg to develop a common hardware and software platform for heavy trucks. 🌸 Gothenburg is the Purple Flag City of the Year 2024! A collaborative effort to create a better and safer city. Congratulations to us! In addition, these collaborations are also happening here: 🚍 Gothenburg Green City Zone, a testbed where future transport systems are tested and developed 🏚 Gothenburg's platform for climate-neutral construction with the goal of reducing the construction and real estate industry's climate impact. This includes the initiative Handslaget to increase circularity. The "Recycler of the Year" was awarded to Castellum and Platzer Fastigheter 🏢 Large companies inviting startups to share expertise and facilities, such as AstraZeneca, MobilityXlab, CampX by Volvo Group, and more If you have any examples of collaboration in Gothenburg, I would love to hear about it! Or a failed collaboration, that's also welcome! Take me and Leisure Boy 🐎 in the picture as an example of when a collaboration don't go as planned.. #gothenburg #göteborg

Thrilled and motivated to have attended the Disrupting Mobility Summit in Berlin held at Stiftung Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin yesterday on 16.05.2024! The Summit was a one-day event focused on the future of #sustainable_transportation. It brought together experts from leading research institutions (University of California, Berkeley, MIT Media Lab, LSE Cities and Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO KEIM) and industry to discuss advancements made in mobility over the past decade and explore potential breakthroughs for the future. Some of the topics covered the following: 📔 Lessons learned from mobility innovations in the past decade. 🎼 Orchestrating sustainable mobility ecosystems by shifting focus from simply providing transportation to creating interconnected and efficient systems. 🎭 Transformative communities and how urban planning can influence mobility. 👩👩👦👦 Human-centric mobility that prioritizes user needs and experiences. The future of various transportation options including transit, cars, air mobility, and infrastructure. 💡 Disruptive ideas for shaping mobility in an urbanized world. As a #sustainable_mobility_consultant with DB Engineering & Consulting, a company shaping the #future_of_transportation, I found the sessions very engaging and #thought provoking. It was fascinating to see the progress made on mobility issues that have been debated for years. Some ideas, like promoting #cycling and #public_transport to reduce car dependence, seem close to becoming reality. Meanwhile, others, like widespread adoption of #autonomous_vehicles and #urban_air_mobility, still need more public acceptance and development before reaching mainstream use. Moreover it was fantastic to connect and network with #stalwarts in the #sustainable_mobility_community working towards making #sustainable_mobility a reality! 🥂 🌟 Kudos to the organising team. ✌

Carsharing in the 70s - How Witkar shaped the future of e-mobility 🚗⚡ Amsterdam's Witkar project emerged in the 1970s, at a time when electric vehicles were overshadowed by gasoline-powered cars. Despite this, the city recognized the need for sustainable urban mobility solutions amidst rising traffic congestion and pollution. The Witkar represented a bold departure from conventional transportation methods, offering residents an innovative and eco-friendly way to navigate the city. Backed by Amsterdam's innovative spirit, the Witkar project aimed to revolutionize urban mobility. Members purchased a special electronic key, granting them lifelong access to the distinctive three-wheeled electric vehicles stationed around the city. To start a journey, members would use their electronic key at a station, enter their desired destination, and await verification from a central computer. Once approved, a Witkar would be released for them to use. These battery-powered cars, known for their lack of emissions, could reach speeds of up to 30 kilometers per hour and could be driven for approximately 30 minutes before needing to be returned to a charging rail. At the end of each journey, drivers would park the vehicle at a designated charging station, where it would automatically reconnect to the charging rail, preparing itself for the next user. Despite facing financial hurdles and eventually ceasing operations in 1986, the Witkar's innovative approach to shared and sustainable transportation continues to inspire cities worldwide. Join us in celebrating the legacy of Witkar and Amsterdam's visionary approach to urban mobility! #Witkar #EMobility #Amsterdam #weisstechnik #Carsharing Source: https://hubs.ly/Q02w77rz0

We have been participating in #HorizonEurope's SUM Project for about a year and a half. 9 cities, and about 20 other organizations (academic and business) are partners in the research association. Each city is looking at a different Shared Urban #Mobility (SUM) project. The Israeli group (Jerusalem Municipality, Tel-Aviv University's Auto-Lab, JTMT, and Sigma-6) is examining the implementation of Raid Hailing in the Yuvalim-Ganim area. With the help of digital analysis tools, surveys and mutual learning - we will suggest the optimal methode to implement the service. In the next post: an excellent example of the implementation of a SUM project. Thanks to the people of Fredrikstad and all the other Living Labs for the information that passes between us. This will make the #Jerusalem project better!
#LivingLab 💡 Co-creating urban mobility: Collaborative solutions for #Fredrikstad’s electric ferry link ⛴ A prime example of co-created mobility solutions is in one of the project's #LivingLabs: Fredrikstad- where the city and Chalmers University of Technology are holding workshops to develop a new electric automated ferry link. This link will connect the island of #Kråkerøy with the south bank of the river Glomma, linking the old, fortified city with the industrial area of #Øra and making commuting by bike, foot and shared micro-mobility more attractive. The workshop series begins with sessions where #citizens, city representatives and the local ferry operator discuss current commuting patterns. Questions explored include: - What other activities are included in the journey? - Which routes are used? - What parts of the journey are considered positive experiences and why? The impact of the new ferry service on commuting is then explored. What activities and experiences will change, positively or negatively? Armed with this knowledge, the SUM Project will involve local businesses and service providers in further workshops to co-create solutions. ✔ The primary goal is to make the new route more attractive to a wider audience by incorporating as many positive experiences and activities from current commuters as possible, thus encouraging more people to use this sustainable transport option. Another aim is to create new business opportunities. ⏯ The end result will conclude in a more attractive ferry service that considers the whole commute, with solutions that are likely to be adopted and sustained beyond the life of the project. 🖱 Investigate SUM Project's #LivingLabs here: https://bit.ly/4bKdGI3 Chalmers University of Technology Tom Mauno #SUMproject #SeamlessUrbanMobility #Fredrikstad #Norway #Transport #UrbanMobility #SmartCities #Sustainability #Innovation #Collaboration #Fredrikstad

The "Rise and Future of Shared Micromobility" report focuses on the growth of micromobility in Europe, with a particular focus on Italy. According to the report, vehicle-sharing rentals have increased by 41%, and the sector's turnover is projected to double from 2020 to 2022. 🚲 Italy has experienced a boom in micromobility with over 43 million trips completed using services such as e-scooters, microcars, and e-bikes in 2022. Operators like TIER and Dott are collaborating to become Europe's leading micro-mobility provider. 🛴 The study analyzed the impact of micromobility on traditional vehicles in Rome and found a correlation between the growth of micromobility and a reduction in vehicles per capita. However, this correlation is not statistically significant. The study highlights potential environmental benefits, such as a reduction in CO2 emissions. 🌎 The report offers a European outlook on micromobility, stressing the advantages it brings to cities from ecological and economic perspectives. It emphasizes the efforts of cities like Milan, Barcelona, and Germany, where investments in cycling infrastructure and regulations are propelling the adoption of micro-mobility solutions.🇪🇺 The report highlights the potential for economic growth and sustainability in the micromobility sector. With supportive regulations, emerging enterprises, and significant investment, expanding shared scooters is inevitable as society becomes more mobile📈 If you want to know more about the report, just click on the link in the first comment! 👇 Follow Arcadia to keep an eye on innovative sectors! The heart 💙 of Volvo - now beating in the centre of Gothenburg Welcome to World of Volvo, Gothenburg's new organic experience centre and landmark, which opened to the public yesterday! 🎆🎇 With people at the centre, Volvo presents its history and future, manifesting the city's importance to Volvo and giving residents and visitors alike an excellent opportunity to experience the brand's importance to Gothenburg. The Volvo Group and Volvo Cars have headquarters and origins in Gothenburg. They are Sweden's two largest private employers, extremely important to the city and together have long been the main engine of Swedish exports. Now everyone has the chance to experience what the brand stands for, situated along the event district, right at the entrance to the city from the east. But World of Volvo is so much more. The beautiful wooden meeting place, designed by Danish architect Henning Larsen, has meeting rooms for up to 1,100 people and is already booked for a wide range of events. There are also several restaurants and coworking spaces, as well as an online broadcast studio on the upper floors. But the heart of the building is the Volvo exhibition on the third floor, which takes visitors on a journey from the past to the present and into the future with many vehicles we recognise from the former Volvo Museum. 🚗 There is a strong focus on innovations with future value, where collaboration between business and society is becoming increasingly important. One such initiative is the Gothenburg Green City Zone, where Volvo Cars is one of the initiators, but both companies participate in different projects. The opening of the World of Volvo comes three years before Volvo's big anniversary in 2027, when it will be💯years since Assar Gabrielsson spun off his small innovation company from ball bearing manufacturer SKF. Also, stay tuned, next week we will release our next trend guide focusing on mobility! Christian Borg Bodil Kronstam Brattö Ben Kendall Emil Bredmar #gothenburg #göteborg #mobility
