Colombia’s path has been more than bumpy, but they should be really proud of this program.
"Enrique, we like what you're doing and think you could benefit from sourcing Colombian talent.”
That's how it all started with PROCOLOMBIA, a Colombian government agency that focuses on promoting local talent to international agencies.
I was skeptical at first (even a little suspicious). But I had already been looking into Colombia's growing tech and marketing talent. So, I dug deeper.
Everything checked out.
Their website listed thriving Colombian businesses, each with detailed profiles showcasing their strengths, track records, and key players.
In terms of finding “investors” (essentially companies like mine willing to, or interested in, sourcing Colombian talent) they had a global network of people doing the search.
Once they track you down, they tell you about the program.
Then they sweeten the deal with a trip to a stunning Colombian city to meet with local talent.
All they ask in return is for you to show up for the meetings.
Unfortunately, the dates for this year’s conference in Cartagena didn't work for me.
But rather than give up, PROCOLOMBIA arranged virtual meetings between me and suitable candidates, all managed through their platform.
Over two days, I met with over 10 Colombian companies, each more promising than the next.
PROCOLOMBIA’s logistics were on point and the quality of the companies they introduced me to was as high as I was hoping for.
In fact, I know this is the beginning of some great partnerships and I’ll do amazing work with some of these companies.
But what I found most refreshing was seeing a LATAM government organization do excellent work for their people.
Helping their best talent get on the map.
Helping their people do what they can’t do for themselves.
Keep up the good work PROCOLOMBIA.
