I had the privilege of attending New York Climate Week, where I engaged with global leaders and innovators dedicated to sustainable, resilient, and regenerative infrastructure. Here are some highlights from this impactful week: FAST-Infra Event Hosted by Aon and HSBC: It was an honor to participate in the event hosted by AON and HSBC, where we discussed mobilizing private sector investment for sustainable infrastructure and the role the Label could play in fostering secondary market transactions in this asset class. Special thanks to our insightful speakers Christian Deseglise, Thierry Déau, Barbara Buchner, Natalia Moudrak, Alyssa G. and Edmundo Toro for their valuable contributions. FAST-Infra Leadership Retreat Hosted by AECOM: Our leadership retreat was a fantastic opportunity to strategize and align on our mission to accelerate sustainable infrastructure development. The collaborative spirit and innovative ideas shared will undoubtedly propel us forward. Stay tuned for exciting updates on the Label. B20 Finance and Infrastructure Taskforce Meeting & Policy Recommendations: Some key takeaways: the taskforce’s policy recommendations emphasized the critical need for standardization to reduce transaction costs. We also discussed the cost of capital and debt burden as being key barriers to raising private finance for sustainable infrastructure. The FAST-Infra Label is designed to address this very need, providing a consistent framework to attract private investment and streamline sustainability in infrastructure projects, but also to help ensure that the benefits of the project to people and planet are significant. Reducing the cost of capital is important, but ensuring the assets are really needed in the first place should be our starting point. “Best Practices in Blended Finance: Case Studies and Lessons Learned” Report by Sustainable Markets Initiative and Investor Leadership Network This report showcasing the FAST-Infra Label, highlights successful case studies and lessons learned in blended finance. It serves as a valuable resource for policymakers and practitioners aiming to scale sustainable infrastructure investments.
