We are thrilled to launch our 50 Shades of Green guide for sustainable event management, an innovative roadmap to help organisers of large and small events in Noosa achieve sustainability goals - from energy to water, waste and much more 🌿 With practical tips, easy steps and a wealth of resources, 50 Shades of Green aims to strike a balance between economic prosperity, social responsibility, cultural preservation and environmental stewardship. Tourism Noosa and our Plastic Free Noosa program developed the guide with the support of local organisations and experts who share a commitment to preserving Noosa's natural beauty and cultural heritage for future generations 💚 The guide follows the phases of event planning, from pre-event to during an event and post-event actions. Information covers areas such as: ✔ Obtaining Council permits ✔ Environmental risk assessments ✔ Community impacts ✔ Carbon emission reductions ✔ How to save on energy, water and waste to minimise environmental impacts while maximising positive contributions to the community. It will help event organisers benchmark their efforts and improve with each event, and will be continually updated with new tools and information to ensure event organisers have the latest, most relevant resources at their fingertips. Thank you to everyone who has worked with us on this, and to the Noosa events that have already embraced the challenge to reduce their impacts. 50 Shades of Green is available for all event organisers to use online at https://lnkd.in/gk4UaBrB #50shadesofgreen #sustainable #events

Happy #EarthDay! 🌍 Sustainability is one of the most discussed topics in the meetings & events industry & I keep on wondering about the talking vs. the doing & if most of our conversations are just #greenwashing - because it usually all comes down to budget... So here are a few sustainable, green & low-budget ideas for your next event either as organiser or participant: 👣 easiest way to reduce the carbon footprint is by walking! Pick the hotel in walking distance to the venue, and even if it is a 20 minute walk - nothing better than airing out the head after a long conference day ☘ Organise a voluntary clean-up session in the morning before the congress - no matter how clean the destination, you will (sadly) always find something... Big benefit is also that you start the day with an accomplishment! 🌳 encourage participants to bring their own water bottles to your event & place water fountains throughout the venue (cheaper than plastic bottles or water cans) 🎁 Say no to give-aways - less production, less CO² & less things being shipped around the world 💚 Follow these sustainability heroes for more input & advice - Sarah Sommerauer, Anna Abdelnoor, Bella Shahsuvaryan, Milda Salciute, CMP, CED, Maria Forko, Kerstin Wünsch, Elena Fis (Pais), Silke Schlinnertz, Shelby Luzzi, MTA ✨ This is also a reminder to travel to IMEX by train (where possible) - I for my part have already booked the return trip from Vienna #traintrumpsplane 😉🚂 Let's do our best to stop the green-washing and turn it into a green-doing 🤩 #NextGen #Saveourplanet #TeamGreen #Sustainability
