The technical site visit to the Route 11 – Horizontal Directional Coring (HDC) site was successfully held on the 21 September 2024! 🎉 A total of 20 participants joined the special event. Despite the pouring rain 🌧️ during the event, the group had the privilege of witnessing this state-of-the-art technology - trenchless techniques used for ground investigation works, allowing for more comprehensive ground data collection and enabling engineers to identify problematic ground along the proposed tunnel alignment. 🔍 It was a truly insightful experience. 🚧 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲𝐬 🚧 Transportation agencies are utilizing agency-owned or contracted Transverse Pavement Profilers (TPP) to conduct detailed pavement condition surveys. These surveys measure crucial aspects such as rut depth, cross slope, and edge/curb detection. A national pooled fund study, TPF-5(299), has been established to assist transportation agencies in developing and utilizing quality standards for the collection and analysis of this pavement condition data. QES is assisting transportation agencies in the implementation of the newly developed AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) Provisional Standards.
