To embrace the Spirit of Spring, we at DOCOMO PACIFIC are reflecting on the importance of coming together as a community and contributing to a greater cause. As the Director of Carrier Relations and Wholesale at DOCOMO PACIFIC & Guam Young Professional’s Subcommittee Co-Chair, I’ve seen how getting involved in a greater cause can help drive meaningful change in advancing industry initiatives, driving social change, and supporting community development. Here are a few reasons why you should join an organization with a greater cause: 🫱🏼🫲🏽 Contributing to a greater purpose not only benefits the community but also helps with personal growth and fulfillment. It’s an opportunity to connect with others who share similar values and passions, giving you a sense of belonging and purpose. 🏠 Community involvement is key to driving meaningful change. By actively participating in committees and initiatives, we can work together to address important issues and create positive outcomes for our communities. 👥 Collaborative efforts are essential in accomplishing great things. When people with a shared goal come together, there is no limit to what they can achieve. 🌎 Social responsibility is a core value that guides our actions. By contributing to something greater than ourselves, we demonstrate our commitment to making a positive impact on the world around us. At DOCOMO PACIFIC, we believe in the power of contributing to a greater purpose. That is why we support Guam Young Professionals, a subcommittee of the Guam Chamber of Commerce that recognizes the importance of engaging young professionals in opportunities that impact our community. If you are interested in becoming a member, there is no better time than now. You can sign up at https://lnkd.in/gdfK3qMX I encourage you to consider how you can contribute to a greater purpose in your own life. Together, we can create positive change in the world. “It's with drops of water that we fill bottles.” Deirdre Forte, HR Manager at Kersia in Ireland, is certain that being a catalyst for change isn't a competition; it's a mindset. It involves small actions – like a smile or a kind word – that can make a big difference. Inspired by her experiences during the COVID pandemic, Deirdre recognized the importance of #empathy and #connection in both personal and professional settings. By creating a more inclusive workplace, Deirdre helps others feel valued and encourages them to take risks without fearing failure. The results speak for themselves: Deirdre's intrapreneurial initiative has led to stronger ties with local schools, mentorship opportunities for students in her company, and a renewed sense of belonging among staff. By investing in the next generation, Deirdre’s commitment to fostering a culture of kindness and inclusivity is a reminder that we can all be #changemakers in our communities, and our workplaces. How are you making a difference? Read Deirdre’s story here and share your own! 👇 https://lnkd.in/d7mQ-t7z

Reflecting on Tết: Embracing Renewal and Community at Winford International As we mark the conclusion of the Tết festivities, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, it offers us a moment to reflect on the profound lessons it brings to our professional and educational communities. Tết is more than just a celebration; it's a symbol of renewal, resilience, and the importance of community. Over the past several days, our team at Winford International has been immersed in this vibrant cultural experience, taking the time to reconnect with family, celebrate traditions, and most importantly, reflect on the year ahead. This period of observance has also been a reminder of the incredible diversity and richness within our own community. At Winford, we cherish these moments that allow us to step back, gain perspective, and bring these learnings into our professional lives and the educational experiences we provide. Cultural Diversity as a Learning Tool As educators and professionals, the celebration of Tết offers us valuable insights into how cultural diversity can be a powerful tool for learning and growth. It reminds us that every tradition and celebration carries with it lessons on leadership, resilience, community building, and the importance of nurturing relationships. Invitation to Share and Learn We invite our professional network to share how cultural celebrations within your own communities influence your professional practices, leadership approaches, and educational strategies. How do you integrate these rich cultural insights to foster an environment of growth, learning, and inclusivity? Looking Forward As we move forward, let's take the spirit of Tết with us—embracing renewal, fostering deeper connections, and continuing to build a community that is enriched by its diversity and united in its goals. Here's to a year of growth, innovation, and strengthened community bonds at Winford International and beyond. #Leadership #CulturalDiversity #EducationInnovation #CommunityBuilding #NewBeginnings

In the year 2023/2024, I have been entrusted with the role of Network Education Coordinator (NEC) within BNI IKON. One of my tasks is to share entrepreneurial knowledge with Referral Partners. Sharing this knowledge requires extensive reading and listening to others' experiences. Among the most interesting topics I've come across is a study on team productivity, conducted on chickens. Researchers divided the chickens into two groups: 👉 One group comprised a mix of highly and less productive chickens. 👉 The other group consisted of all Top Producers / highly productive chickens. This study spanned 6 generations of chickens. The result was that the mixed group continued to thrive, producing numerous eggs and robust chickens after 6 generations. In contrast, the group of exclusively Top Producers dwindled to only 3 chickens. The study found that when gathering all Top Performers in one group, they competed and ended up eliminating each other. Collecting chickens with diverse performance levels allowed them to calibrate. A similar study was conducted on humans, using the same method of grouping individuals with very high IQ and a mixed group of high and average IQ. The result favored the mixed IQ group. The conclusion drawn was that three main factors contributed to their success: 1. Higher Empathy 2. Spending Equal Time for Discussion 3. Having More Women in the group. #BNIIkon

This was one of the first events I attended as an EmployIndy team member and it's still one of my favorite events each year. So what? I'll tell you what: 1.) If you're doing great things at your organization around DEIB, NOMINATE yourself!! Tell people about why it's important to you and what it means to be a great organization. 2.) Attend! If you aren't fully confident in where you are at on the DEIB journey, that's ok! Attending this event is such a great way to network with others and learn how you can move the needle. (Pst, I know some people that can help you with those goals too). REGISTER &/OR NOMINATE YOURSELF TODAY!! https://lnkd.in/g3z4x8Ke

Today, I’m very proud… #TeamSEIA is—once again—one of The Washington Post's Top Workplaces for 2024. For the second year in a row, the Solar Energy Industries Association has been selected as one of just a few businesses and organizations in the DMV area to receive this recognition. Based on measures of employee satisfaction, workplace culture, and organizational leadership, SEIA received high marks across the board. 94% of SEIA staff respondents say there is good interdepartmental cooperation across the organization, which is 21% higher than other nonprofit trade associations that participated. 95% of SEIA employees say their ideas are encouraged and feel like their work is meaningful. 94% of SEIA staff feel included in the organization’s culture. 92% say that SEIA operates with strong values at the core of its work. These results are a testament to everyone at SEIA. Every person on #TeamSEIA is smart, passionate, inquisitive, caring, and focused. I love leading this organization, but, at the end of the day, I’m just lucky to be a part of it. So, thank you. Thank you to my SEIA colleagues… to all my dear friends for trusting me to lead this incredible organization :) And before I forget: SEIA is also HIRING! If you’re interested in joining this amazing team that’s changing the world, check out all our open positions here: https://lnkd.in/eZjEvGYZ Read more about SEIA’s selection as a Washington Post Top Workplace here: https://lnkd.in/eD4NR4fu

Nathan Ott, Chief Polisher at The GC Index, has joined GC Partners HireHigher and Portman Partners, as part of the Hirehigher's Rising Star Programme to talk to 60 sixth form students about their impact and contribution potential for the future. In the Impact Assessment Workshop they have had a taster of The Young People Index, the language of impact and how they can best use their energy to make their best impact and contribution moving forwards. The Young People Index® (The YPI) is an online assessment tool which prepares young people for success. Used by education professionals and youth organisations, it helps identify and nurture the impact young people will make now and in the future. The results from the assessment empowers young people by highlighting their unique impact in terms of how they can best contribute to a team, organisation, project or role, boosting confidence and self-awareness. By taking the assessment, we can see a young person’s natural motivations and preferences when working in a team. This instantly raises self-awareness and confidence in knowing their strengths and how they best make a contribution. David Chukwu & Ali Sadiq talk to Abner Sesay about his experience of The Young People Index and how it has helped clarify his future and build confidence and self esteem.
