Breaking the cycle: violence and adolescent health 💔 Across Latin America and the Caribbean, thousands of adolescent girls face the devastating effects of gender-based violence every day. This reality compromises their physical, mental, emotional, and sexual/reproductive health while also limiting their opportunities for a better future. Unequal access to healthcare and the lack of adolescent-friendly sexual and reproductive health services exacerbate this crisis. Many girls, particularly those in poverty, Indigenous, Afro-descendant, or marginalized communities, face stigma, discrimination, and inadequate care. 🚨 It’s time to ensure comprehensive health services, including sexuality education, counseling, and access to contraceptives, dismantling harmful social and gender barriers. Ending violence against girls, adolescents, and women cannot wait. #16DaysOfActivism. Read more in the #NoTimeToLose Report: https://bit.ly/3OyiVA6

As well we on the EU need to invest in ending all armed conflicts and wars, in peace, since they increase all forms of #VAWG enormously globally and later leave generations with perpetuated #VAWG. We need a concept for all phases if education on anti-toxic male agressions, for peace and gender equality abilities among boy, men , and sure, girls and women. This humankind & delicate planet cannot move forward with this systemic brutalities, human rights violations and war crimes, genocide and feminicids.
Violence against women must end. The European Parliament has adopted the first-ever EU rules on combatting violence against women and domestic violence. The new rules will: - raise public awareness that non-consensual sex is a criminal offence - strengthen laws against cyberviolence - prohibit female genital mutilation and forced marriage - provide specialised assistance for victims The rules also state that the safety and well-being of victims should be prioritised, including through access to sheltered accommodation. Healthcare should be made accessible, including sexual and reproductive health services. Read more: https://lnkd.in/dBmCEHvj

This new EU law is an important step forward. One example: today, violence (including online sexual harassment and hate speech) against women is deterring many women from going into politics. The personal price to pay is often simply too high. This is a threat against democracy. With this new law, the different forms of cyber harassment become an EU crime, and will be persecuted as such. The impunity for attacking women online, whether politicians, journalists, human rights activists or other, will have to come to an end. #EU #DemocracyInAction #EuropeanParliament #EndVAM

Providing quality #SRH services to youth is crucial to their overall well-being. It's time to prioritize addressing issues linked to poor service privacy, poor confidentiality practices, and provider bias. We've established the Measuring Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health (MY SRH) Initiative to address this need for improved measurement practices in Adolescents and Youth SRH service delivery: https://rb.gy/ibqr9. Together, let's work towards a healthier future for all young people. #YouthHealth #YouthPartnership #ActionLearning

Let's talk about harmful traditional practices affecting women and girls worldwide. From female genital mutilation (FGM) to child marriage, these practices violate human rights and pose serious health risks. FGM, for instance, can lead to complications like infections, pain during intercourse, and childbirth complications. Child marriage robs young girls of their education, health, and autonomy. To address these issues, we need a multifaceted approach. This includes community mobilization to change cultural norms, legislation to protect vulnerable individuals, and the provision of support services for survivors. Empowering women and girls through education and economic opportunities is also crucial. Together, we can work towards ending these harmful practices and creating a world where everyone can live free from violence and discrimination.
