Red Bull Advanced Technologies and AVL work on lightweight PEM #fuelcells Red Bull Advanced Technologies is partnering with Austrian mobility specialists AVL to develop lightweight fuel cells for #motorsport, #aviation and performance cars. The high-performance arm of Milton Keynes-based Red Bull Racing Group claims that the new fuel cells will be up to two-thirds lighter than existing systems. Early research by the partners indicates that gravimetric #power density can be achieved with values towards 6kW/kg on stack level and 2kW/kg on fuel cell system level. According to Red Bull, this will result in the world’s highest gravimetric power density PEM (proton exchange membrane) fuel cell system. https://lnkd.in/dkGMw2jS

Oilstainlab HF-11 is a wild 900kg powertrain-swappable #hypercar #Oilstainlab's first production car, the HF-11, is an analog 650hp, 900kg hypercar that can be built to spec with both an internal combustion engine and an electric powertrain. This is made possible with Thunder-Volt, a "quick swapping system" that enables the HF-11 to shift between two #powertrain options. “Five years ago, we knew to define our future we needed to build our past, the Half-11 Prototype—a vehicle that would defy reality. It became a myth, our time machine,” said Iliya Bridan, co-founder, Oilstainlab. “In the years since, we have distilled that vision of nostalgia, driven ourselves half-mad in technology and engineering. And finally, today we are proud to reveal our maniacal HF-11 to the world.” “Over the last four years, we have been secretly building our company. A team scouted globally. Maniacs chosen for their unwavering passion, prior industry achievements and bold vision,” said Nikita Bridan, CEO, Oilstainlab. These are nothing but shadowboxing matches—desperate attempts to delay the inevitable shift to EVs, a transition that certain industries completely missed. They’re trying to buy time by dangling a shiny, futuristic promise in front of people, hoping we’ll sit tight and wait for something that’s never going to come. Let’s talk about hydrogen for personal vehicles. They want us to believe it's the next big thing, a knight in shining armor that will save the combustion engine. But here’s the harsh reality: it makes no sense. Hydrogen cars are a pipe dream for several solid, technical, and economic reasons. First, hydrogen is expensive to produce, store, and transport. Unlike electricity, which is relatively easy to distribute through grids we already have, hydrogen requires an entirely new infrastructure—think pipelines, fueling stations, and high-pressure storage. And who’s going to pay for all that? Spoiler alert: no one. It’s not economically viable, and the costs are astronomical compared to charging an EV at home or at the ever-expanding network of charging stations. Second, the energy efficiency is a joke. By the time hydrogen gets from production to powering your car, most of the energy is lost. The process of creating, compressing, and transporting hydrogen burns through energy like a leaky bucket. EVs, on the other hand, are way more efficient from production to wheels. You’d need more energy to drive a hydrogen car the same distance, and that’s just bad business. Lastly, the infrastructure for EVs is already here, and it's growing fast. Billions are being pumped into charging networks, battery development, and clean energy. Meanwhile, hydrogen stations are few and far between, and that's unlikely to change. It’s simply not practical for the everyday driver. So, let’s be clear: all this talk about hydrogen cars is just a stalling tactic. They missed the EV revolution, and now they want to convince us to wait for something that’s not coming. But the future is already here, and it’s electric. They can keep shadowboxing, but they’re not landing any punches. The world has moved on. https://lnkd.in/eGiPbfWY
