The government's push to promote increased adoption of renewable energy and the use of green hydrogen, as envisioned in the National Green Hydrogen Mission, has led the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to work on modalities for promoting the use of green hydrogen in supporting round-the-clock electricity. The policy mechanisms being considered include one based on the Contract for Difference (CfD) methodology, which relies on the difference between the market price and an agreed 'strike price.' Our energy transition expert, Julio Dal Poz , recently collaborated with the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies to explore Contracts for Difference, a tool increasingly seen as the method of choice for incentivising private investment in renewable power projects and new clean energy technologies. 🔌Verra has opened a public consultation on a minor revision to Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) TOOL07: Tool to calculate the emission factor for an electricity system, v7.0. The consultation is open through Monday, November 4, 2024. ➡️ The revised tool will be published in Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program. The proposed updates aim to align the tool with the Core Carbon Principles (CCPs) Assessment Framework of the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM). 💡 TOOL07 is used to calculate the grid emission factor for grid-connected renewable energy projects, among others.
