In June 2017, MAVA received ongoing feedback from volunteer engagement professionals that their positions are comparable to three other key staff positions in terms of skill set and scope of responsibility, yet there is a lack of equity! MAVA decided to conduct a study and obtain a top-level view on how the VEP is perceived by CEOs in comparison to other similar positions within an organization. Our goal was to learn how to address inequities and challenges faced by VEPs.🙌 The “Promoting Job Equity for Volunteer Engagement Professionals” report summarizes the findings of a survey completed by 464 CEOs and the 24 follow-up interviews! We looked into how the skill-based approach is affecting career guidance, and how we can leverage technology to make the processes easier for both the job seekers and the counselors. After the resume review, he showed me the elevator pitch he wrote.
