Since working as an academic in the US since 2018, I’ve looked forward to each issue of the Journal of Architectural Education (JAE), with particular interest in the relevance, timeliness, and universal importance of the theme of each issue. This link is a call for papers for an upcoming issue of JAE, with a theme/title, "Palestine". I suggest you read the text in this link (also below), before knee-jerk commenting. Working with expert archivist Clare Lanigan and Cuimhneamh an Chláir Project Manager Paula Carroll, we've created a detailed roadmap for preserving Ireland's rich oral heritage in digital format using estbalished DRI guidelines and including additional information relevant to digital #oralheritage. This guide transforms complex archival processes into clear, actionable steps that any heritage organisation can follow. Key features include: • Detailed metadata creation templates • Strategic subject term mapping • Step-by-step batch ingest processes • Best practices for digital preservation This resource represents a significant step forward in standardising oral history preservation in Ireland. We're sharing it openly to help other heritage organisations protect their valuable collections for future generations. Look beyond current standards for identification of cultural resources for the purposes of compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and determination of historic properties. Examine how the methodology may be enhanced to produce a better analysis, both in the field and on paper. Understand ways to expand documentation efforts to include a greater variety of input, perspectives, and interpretation. Museum Archive CTA #69 (in progress) https://lnkd.in/gvufD4dy Why “In Progress?” The “Indigenous Heritage Action Plan” released in April, 2019 by Library and Archives Canada (LAC) recognizes Indigenous rights and increases access to LAC’s collection through 28 specific actions. The Action Plan also directly addresses UNDRIP and the United Nations Joinet – Orentlicher Principles in the ‘Purpose and Principles” section of the Indigenous Heritage Action Plan but not directly through any of the specific actions. With respects to iii LAC has updated its profile of John A MacDonald to reflect his role as the primary architect of the Indian residential schools as well as other racist policies of forced assimilation and disenfranchisement in order to advance the nation building of CP Rail. The problem is that the site is difficult to find and not as accessible as the previous “whitewashed” version. #AlwaysThink4Yourself
