What a great Construction Conference yesterday hosted by my colleague Michael Hiscock. Here's what I took away: 🔥 There are numerous detailed regulations relating to fire safety and this is now a really important issue for property investors, developers and occupiers that cannot be ignored. 🏫 Community spaces are really important to the built environment we live in and we need to consider the under utilisation of our public buildings such as schools. 🌲 Nature has capital value and places like Utrecht in the Netherlands have heavily invested in making their town centres attractive places that people want to visit using the natural environment. 🏘 SME builders are the lifeblood of the construction sector and should not be ignored. 🏡 Diverse housing makes people happy and no-one wants to live in towns and cities that all look the same. 👩 We all need to play a role in encouraging a more diverse construction industry and ensure that more women become leaders in the sector. 📜 The planning systems needs fixing (I think I knew this already!) Thank you to all the speakers and everyone who attended. Wright Hassall LLP

‘The turnaround is now’ - this is the conclusion reached by Brüninghoff Group CE0, Frank Steffens, in his statement on the BAU trade fair, which he recently gave to the trade magazine BFT International: ‘The German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) has reported that a reversal of the trend in the construction sector is on its way at the start of the year. The crisis in residential construction is expected to end in 2026. Although the current situation still appears to be critical, Brüninghoff Group is experiencing it differently – also in the residential construction sector. One reason for this could be because of the way the corporate group has positioned itself strategically by undertaking a range of activities which leads to synergic effects. The other reason might be because of its clear commitment to the field of serial, modular and systemic construction.’ Read more https://lnkd.in/e56qUnad
