𝐈𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧? 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐬! 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬, 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬, 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬, 𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝-𝐨𝐧. Two major fires within a week have rocked Kolkata, one at a Park Street eatery and another at a Kasba mall. While thankfully there were no casualties, these incidents expose a much larger, burning issue: 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚'𝐬 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐬. The reports paint a chilling picture: blocked emergency exits, inadequate evacuation plans, and a lack of proper fire safety systems. 𝐒𝐫𝐢𝐣𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐤'𝐬 words echo in my ears: "It is sad that our government is not doing anything." 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬? Are lives truly expendable in the name of commercial gain? We can't afford to be silent anymore! We need to hold authorities accountable. We need stricter regulations and relentless enforcement. Building owners must prioritize safety over profit. Fire safety drills and proper evacuation plans are not a suggestion; they're a necessity. The complacency in fire safety adherence is a ticking time bomb that endangers lives and property. Let this incident be a wake-up call for India. We need to prioritize fire safety with the same urgency as other public safety measures. It’s time for action, accountability, and a renewed commitment to safeguarding lives. Together, we can prevent these tragedies from becoming a recurring nightmare. #FireSafetyMatters #AccountabilityNow #ProtectOurPeople #IndiaFires #SafetyFail #WakeUpIndia #FireSafety #KolkataFire #SafetyFirst #RegulationEnforcement #PublicSafety #IndiaSafetyCrisis #FirePrevention #UrgentActionNeeded #StaySafeIndia #ProtectOurPeople https://lnkd.in/dy-rmi99

#Preparedness vs #Fearpsychosis As Chennai and Tamil Nadu gearing up for Northeast Monsoon, IMD has already predicted that this year monsoon rainfall will be around 17 percent higher than normal. As a follow up to this, Red alert is announced for Chennai for the upcoming days. There are lot of awareness created among people on "what to do" and "what not to do" during these days, disaster prevention and preparedness initiatives are taken by the multiple Government Departments and constant updates are provided to the public. While the whole intention behind taking these steps is to create confidence and trust among people that things are taken care and activities are closely monitored, there exists a thin blurred line beyond which these whole set of informations create panic and fear among people which is evident from the mass behaviour on the urgency to stock up groceries, spreading false messages in social media etc., These sort of behaviours create more panic among the masses which will only make the situation worse. Media plays a vital role in this. The way news are announced in the television channels with heavy "flash news" BGMs for every other minute and repeating the same content in multiple ways is not helping people beyond a point. These sort of approaches only create panic. While the information dissemination is absolutely necessary, the way it has been told should also be taken care of. When people consume such news, they have to feel confident and prepared and should not feel threatened and vulnerable. Responsible and empathetic approach is needed in disseminating such informations and media has huge role to play in this. #Disaster preparedness #Responsible media

Dear Government of Punjab Dear Punjab Emergency Services Department Rescue-1122, Pakistan Fire incident in a local market highlights the critical need for proper fire safety measures. Due to the unavailability of fire extinguishers, a minor fire had the potential to escalate into a devastating disaster, endangering lives and property. To prevent such incidents in the future, I urge the government and local authorities to enforce a mandatory law requiring to maintain a minimum of two fire extinguishers(Different types e.g Dcp, Co2, AFFF) etc. at every business center(Shop/Showroom etc.). This small yet crucial step will significantly enhance safety and protect both personal and business assets and also save our environment from lethal exhaust gaseous contributions. Your prompt attention to this matter can help prevent future tragedies. #FireSafety #Environment
