2024 Corn Harvest Looking to Be the Best in Years. The 2024 corn harvest is expected to be one of the best in recent years due to regular rainfall throughout the year. Irrigation facility and crop intensification: Some decades before when I was a young #agriculture extension officer, this area was #barren land and no #commercial #farming. After the development of the #irrigation facility by using underground #water, the same area has been converted into an #intensive commercial farming area with a minimum of three crops/year. Potato, #vegetables, and winter #maize are the main crops cultivated in this area (Debanjung-4, Kaptanjung, Sunsari). Because of sandy loam #soil, good #drainage facility, and #assured irrigation farmers are motivated and enjoy #intensivefarming. Similarly, bulk production of different crops links this area with the #market and big #buyers. This is a good example of commercial farming and #learning centers for other farmers, agriculture development #professionals, and #policymakers.
