Irrigation facility and crop intensification: Some decades before when I was a young #agriculture extension officer, this area was #barren land and no #commercial #farming. After the development of the #irrigation facility by using underground #water, the same area has been converted into an #intensive commercial farming area with a minimum of three crops/year. Potato, #vegetables, and winter #maize are the main crops cultivated in this area (Debanjung-4, Kaptanjung, Sunsari). Because of sandy loam #soil, good #drainage facility, and #assured irrigation farmers are motivated and enjoy #intensivefarming. Similarly, bulk production of different crops links this area with the #market and big #buyers. This is a good example of commercial farming and #learning centers for other farmers, agriculture development #professionals, and #policymakers.
