In case you missed it, the 22 of May was International Day for Biological Diversity. At #WEG, we understand the vital importance of biodiversity and strive to integrate sustainable management practices into our operations. With approximately 5,598 hectares of vegetation and native forests in the Atlantic Forest biome, we contribute to the preservation of biodiversity. Our forests are not only natural habitats but also ecological corridors that support the protection and maintenance of fauna and flora. Protecting and valuing life on our planet is essential. #WEGAfrica #DrivingEfficiency #DrivingSustainability #InternationalDayForBiologicalDiversity

ReLeaf Saba| 🌱 🌳 While the ReLeaf Saba project team were planting trees along Fort Bay Road, a friendly passerby shouted, “almond trees,” while driving to their destination. Fort Bay Road is now lined with eight species of trees, from the humble ‘leaf of life’ to the towering almond tree. Through the ‘Healthy and resilient marine and coastal ecosystems through reforestation of Sint Eustatius and Saba’ project, the Saba Conservation Foundation is able to improve the protection and restoration of the shoreline and other ecologically important areas, which improves ecosystem services, biodiversity, and the island’s economic resilience. #ReLeaf #Reforestation #Saba - Expertise France European Commission

🍂 As summer gives way to autumn, the enchanting season transforms the #Danube River, bringing captivating changes to its flora and fauna. 🦅 Cooler temperatures welcome migratory birds, filling the air with their melodious songs. The landscape shifts into warm autumn hues, creating a breathtaking natural canvas. 🦋 Autumn also brings fascinating butterflies like the Danube Clouded Yellow, vital pollinators for the region’s plant life. Let's cherish the Danube’s aquatic biodiversity and ensure its preservation for generations to come. 💧 The #ICPDR plays a crucial role in safeguarding the river’s biodiversity. By implementing conservation measures, we help maintain water quality, restore habitats, and promote sustainable river basin management. Through collaboration with member countries and stakeholders, we preserve the unique ecosystems that support the Danube’s diverse flora and fauna. Today is World Environment Day! 🌍🌳 The Amorim Group prides itself on its commitment to sustainability and its contribution to preserving biodiversity through the key role played by cork oak forests. Cork oak forests are major carbon sinks - capturing over 73 tons of CO2 for every ton of cork produced. They also form part of one of the world's 36 biodiversity hotspots, on a par with Amazonia and the African Savanna. Endangered species found in the cork oak forests of Portugal, Spain and North Africa include the Iberian Lynx, Iberian Wolf, Atlas Deer and Spanish Imperial Eagle. The WWF - World Wild Fund for Nature, estimate that over 100,000 people in southern Europe and North Africa directly and indirectly depend on these forests, which, in addition to being natural reservoirs of biodiversity, are important cultural landscapes. #AmorimCork #AmorimCorkStoppers #CorkStoppers #WorldEnvironmentDay

At #COP16Colombia, CMS has launched NEW guidelines to support strategic, science-driven conservation efforts worldwide. Prepared by the Center for Large Landscape Conservation, these guidelines are designed to help governments, conservation organizations, and other entities expand protected area networks using a science-based approach. The primary focus is to increase #EcologicalConnectivity and representativeness, which are crucial for maintaining biodiversity. 🦋 Ecological connectivity is critical for species survival, allowing for species migration and adaptation to climate change. Well-connected ecological networks support biodiversity and resilience. The new guidelines can assist countries in achieving Target 3 of the #KMGBF – conserving at least 30% of land and water areas by 2030. 🌄 🌊 Download the guidelines here: https://lnkd.in/g394e4A9
