Isabel Mestres’ Post

CEO at City Cancer Challenge Foundation

I wish I were one of the 12 women granted $20 million by Melinda French Gates. I would have distributed it among C/Can cities' local CSOs to strengthen their organizational capacity, enabling them to expand their impactful work without  fundraising and reporting hassles. (#MelindacallIsabel) Until Melinda gets to know us and learns that the C/Can model works, I will continue working closely with all our partners. 😍 Because cancer care requires a cross-sector commitment to drive real and meaningful change, partnerships between the non-profit and for-profit sectors are essential. For 6 years, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Roche. Our journey has been incredibly rewarding, filled with challenges and breakthroughs. After a comprehensive partnership review of our collective impact, we decided to document our journey and develop a collaboration framework between City Cancer Challenge and Roche. We both agree this framework could help many organizations navigate cross-sector collaborations. It may not be a one-size-fits-all, but I believe it will benefit many CSOs and corporates. Hi Isabelle, I can only hope and pray that Melinda French Gates, Mackenzie Scott and other "newcomer donors" to C/Can see the amazing work you are doing to improve equitable, quality cancer in LMICs, which has a huge impact on women afflicted by breast, cervical and other cancers.
