I am so pleased to share that our co-author paper, The Role of Geopolitics of Knowledge in the Mediatization of Global University Rankings, has been published in Higher Educ. Drawing on Walter Mignolo’s (2011) “geopolitics of knowledge” concept, we analyzed the Bangladeshi national media’s coverage of Times Higher Education and Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd. rankings (between 2019 and 2021). We illuminate how the geopolitics of knowledge helps foreground ranking logics in national HE (higher education) policy discourse at the periphery of GURs outcomes (e.g., Bangladesh) through the mediatization process. Am excited to share that my first journal publication is coming out later this month with UCL Press's London Review of Education! My paper is titled 'Islamic Scientific Critical Consciousness for Muslim Science Educators' and presents a practical curriculum and teaching approach towards high school science education from an Islamic perspective. I make use of Allama Muhammad Iqbal's idea of 'Khudi' (self-hood) and Paulo Freire's idea of 'Conscientização' (critical consciousness) in framing my ideas, along with other thinkers from the fields of Islamic theory, decolonial theory, and critical pedagogy.
