Odds are, you or someone you know is living with arthritis. This condition affects about 53 million adults and 300,000 children in the United States. Arthritis is not a single disease, but rather a term for over 100 types of joint pain and diseases. It can also lead to other conditions like diabetes, heart disease and obesity. Arthritis affects millions worldwide. The Arthritis Association seeks to educate people about symptoms, treatment options, and the importance of early diagnosis. They also emphasizes the impact of arthritis on individuals' quality of life and encourage support for research efforts to find better treatments and ultimately a cure. They promote public understanding and support for those living with arthritis. While it can't be cured, it can be well-managed. Strategies to manage arthritis include: Staying active, even when it can feel challenging: aquatic exercise, walking, or a short bike ride can help. A change in weather can cause arthritis to flare up; when the weather is cold try using ibuprofen, applying ice, and stretching. Use multiple joints to spread the weight of an object, like carrying groceries with two hands or using a backpack Use larger, stronger joints as levers, like putting your shoulder instead of your hand on a heavy door. The duration of arthritis treatment can vary depending on the type and severity of arthritis, as well as individual factors such as age, overall health, and response to treatment.

According to the US Arthritis Foundation, these are the basic facts about Arthritis: • About 1 in 4 adults and hundreds of thousands of children in the U.S. have been diagnosed by a doctor with a form of arthritis or related illness. • Contrary to the common misconception, it’s not just an “old person’s” disease. About two-thirds of those living with arthritis are aged 65 and under. • There are more than 100 types of arthritis and related rheumatic diseases. • Symptoms of arthritis can vary depending on the type but often include joint pain, stiffness, swelling, and decreased range of motion. These symptoms can range from mild to severe and can impact daily activities and quality of life. • Most people with arthritis also have comorbidities — accompanying conditions, like heart disease, diabetes and obesity — that further jeopardize their health. Concerned you may have arthritis? Stop in for a simple blood test, the arthritis screening panel. This panel is $129 and includes Rheumatoid Factor, Antinuclear Antibodies, and C‐Reactive Protein (High Sensitivity). It also includes a Complete Blood Count (CBC) and a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP), which are often ordered in an annual physical examination and can be used to monitor a variety of conditions. No doctor visit needed, no appointment necessary. Book online, walk-in or call with questions. (515) 225-1050 https://lnkd.in/gew7Zz9w

On February 2nd every year, we observe Awareness Day to spread awareness about an inflammatory disease that affects the joints known as Rheumatoid Arthritis. This is an autoimmune disease that damages the lining of the joints in our body. The immune system perceives the lining as a foreign material and attacks it, causing damage. This disease usually affects women aged between 30 to 50 years. If you notice any swelling in your joints, please don't ignore it as it could be a sign of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Sometimes, upon waking up in the morning, you may experience leg inactivity and joint stiffness, which could also be indications of this disease. Rheumatoid Arthritis can cause fatigue, fever, and loss of appetite. When battling this disease, one may experience extreme fatigue. If you feel chronic tiredness, it is recommended to consult a doctor immediately. If you wake up in the morning experiencing joint stiffness lasting half an hour or more, this could also be a sign of Rheumatoid Arthritis. To prevent severe consequences of the disease, it is recommended to undergo early treatment. In case of chronic joint pain, a doctor may suggest physiotherapy which can help reduce pain and slow down the progression of Rheumatoid Arthritis. It is important to take medication only as per the doctor's advice.

Ran 5km Marathon to spread awareness about 'Arthritis', Arthritis is the swelling and tenderness of one or more joints. The main symptoms of arthritis are joint pain and stiffness, which typically worsen with age. October 12, World Arthritis Day, was established in 1996 to raise global awareness of arthritis. Every year the Arthritis Foundation elevates this special day to spread the word about the disease’s far-reaching impact. Although it’s one of the most common diseases in the world, there is no cure for arthritis, and many people are unaware of its potent physical, emotional and economic impact. For example, in a 2018 Harris Poll of 2,000 adults in the U.S. on behalf of the Arthritis Foundation, only 7% knew that arthritis is the country’s No. 1 cause of disability. And a whopping 85% acknowledged the disease needs more attention — with good reason. Take a look at the very visible impact of this often-invisible disease: Arthritis affects half a billion people worldwide and nearly 60 million adults and children in the U.S. That’s about 1 in 4 U.S. adults, and children can be diagnosed as young as a few months old. Arthritis accounts for nearly 1 million hospitalizations each year. Among adults with arthritis, nearly half (47%) have at least one other disease or condition. Arthritis and other non-traumatic joint disorders are among the five most costly conditions among adults over the age of 18. People with arthritis or a rheumatic condition lose more workdays every year due to illness or injury than adults with any other medical condition #Awareness_about_Arthirtis

hello everyone, Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that can affect more than just your joints. In some people, the condition can damage a wide variety of body systems, including the skin, eyes, lungs, heart and blood vessels. An autoimmune disorder, rheumatoid arthritis occurs when your immune system mistakenly attacks your own body's tissues.Symptoms Signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis may include: Tender, warm, swollen joints Joint stiffness that is usually worse in the mornings and after inactivity Fatigue, fever and loss of appetite Early rheumatoid arthritis tends to affect your smaller joints first — particularly the joints that attach your fingers to your hands and your toes to your feet. As the disease progresses, symptoms often spread to the wrists, knees, ankles, elbows, hips and shoulders. In most cases, symptoms occur in the same joints on both sides of your body. About 40% of people who have rheumatoid arthritis also experience signs and symptoms that don't involve the joints. Areas that may be affected include: Skin Eyes Lungs Heart Kidneys Salivary glands Nerve tissue Bone marrow Blood vessels Rheumatoid arthritis signs and symptoms may vary in severity and may even come and go. Periods of increased disease activity, called flares, alternate with periods of relative remission — when the swelling and pain fade or disappear. Over time, rheumatoid arthritis can cause joints to deform and shift out of place. #snsinstitutios #snsdesignthinking #snsdesignthinkers

🚨UNDERSTANDING ARTHRITIS🚨 Arthritis is a chronic condition characterized by inflammation of the joints, leading to pain, stiffness, and limited mobility. Arthritis can affect people of all ages, but the risk increases with age. Most people with arthritis are over 65 years old. Other risk factors include genetics, obesity, injury or trauma, and autoimmune disorders. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), arthritis affects over 50 million people worldwide, making it one of the most common chronic conditions. Prevalence and Statistics Studies have shown that arthritis is a significant public health concern, with a high prevalence rate worldwide. A study published in the journal Arthritis & Rheumatology estimated that by 2045, approximately 78 million adults in the United States will have doctor-diagnosed arthritis. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report that in 2020, 24.4% of adults in the United States had arthritis. Symptoms and Diagnosis Common symptoms of arthritis include joint pain, stiffness, and swelling, reduced mobility and flexibility, warmth and redness around the affected joint, and difficulty performing daily activities. Diagnosing arthritis involves a physical examination, medical history, and imaging tests such as X-rays or MRIs.
