SAIC Group Applies for Composite Material Simulation Patent to Aid in Automotive Lightweighting Technology On December 16, 2023, as reported by Financial World, the State Intellectual Property Office announced that SAIC Motor Corporation Limited has applied for a patent titled "A Method and Apparatus for Composite Material Simulation." The method first involves acquiring material properties of the target composite material in a primary fiberglass orientation, then constructing a model to be processed. This model is divided into a first component with the fiberglass orientation as the primary one, to which material properties are assigned, resulting in a highly accurate simulation model of fiberglass-reinforced composite materials. This application addresses inaccuracies in current modeling methods for fiberglass composite materials, reflecting the influence of fiber orientation and the differences in anisotropy. Applicable to the simulation modeling of various anisotropic materials, this method not only improves simulation accuracy but also facilitates automotive lightweighting technology.
