The 2024 Status of Women and Girls in California report from Center for the Advancement of Women at Mount Saint Mary's University highlights the persistent gender earnings gap in the state. The report finds that while the wage gap for all California women has improved over the past decade, the improvement is due to white women and Asian American women. The earnings gap has stayed consistent for Latinas and even increased for Black women. I think, we need to re-think about the subject... Are we striving to achieve the very goal of women empowerment? OR Are we trying to bring them par to men? OR Are we heading towards an unbalanced situation, where we are trying to make it a regular fashion that women are superior to men? It should be treated meticulously, so we have a balanced structure. In my opinion when we talk of Gender, which is largely a social construct...The solution largely lies in Equity & Equality. Equal treatment to all, considering the fact we all are human. This is the conclusion of all the debates.

I’m excited to share that I’ve completed a course with UN Women on Women Empowerment and Decision Making! I have learned, Why women participation in decision making is crucial? As women constitute half of the world population their active participation in policy making is a question of justice and democracy. There are only six country in the world who have 50 percent women or more in the parliament either in single or lower house, but what about the rest of world? I’ve learned about the various barriers that keep women from reaching decision-making positions, such as economic dependency, lack of schooling, and cultural stereotypes. Equally important, I now understand the catalysts that can drive change, including knowledge of rights, access to resources, and building supportive networks. These insights have improved my understanding of how policy frameworks can be more inclusive and equitable. As a public policy student, the course has given me practical tools to advocate for gender equality and the inclusion of marginalized voices in governance. I'm eager to apply what I've learned and contribute to creating a more just and balanced society where women's opinions are heard and valued. #GenderEquality #PublicPolicy #UNWomen #Empowerment

This is amazing research that needs to be shared far and wide. A job posting is not a throw away document. What you say and how you say it matters. Being more deliberate and thoughtful with your job postings will impact your applicant pool in a real way. "By using more gender-neutral terms in job postings (especially in management roles), and by offering more benefits that reduce challenges like childcare, economies around the world can welcome more women into the labor force. This benefits not just those women involved but the entire global labor market, especially given the current worker shortage" #womenatwork #recruitingtips
