The stereotypes that tie the word “entrepreneur” to [white] men and technology are some of the most challenging barriers women in entrepreneurship face. They shape the way funding programs, training and incubators are designed and how financing and investment decisions are made. Perhaps even more importantly, they shape the aspirations and confidence of Indigenous women. 💜 Women need to see successful Indigenous #WomenEntrepreneurs so they can dare become one! ✅ Explore our database of more than 2,000 (and growing!) 🚀 This #SmallBusinessWeek, we are thrilled to launch a recent partner-led report with the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB) and the Diversity Institute on the Early Stages of Indigenous Women's Entrepreneurship. There are about 75,000 Indigenous businesses in Canada, with 33% owned by Indigenous women. Through entrepreneurship, they are creating their path toward self-determination and economic reconciliation. But the path isn't easy. In this report, supported by SSHRC-CRSH, we explore the experiences of Indigenous women entrepreneurs—how they transform their ideas into successful businesses, overcome systemic barriers like poor access to training and financing, and give back to their communities—and offer recommendations and wise practices to further their growth. ➡️Dive into the report here: https://bit.ly/3XStKC5 #WomenEntrepreneurs #IndigenousEntrepreneurs #IndigenousBusiness #EconomicReconciliation #TRC SSHRC-CRSH

Women entrepreneurs are on the rise, transforming Australia's business landscape with unprecedented momentum—and that’s worth celebrating as we plan for the year ahead! Earlier in 2024, JB Were’s report revealed a surge in the number of high-net-worth (HNW) women in Australia. These women are excelling in financial markets and capitalising on the largest intergenerational wealth transfer in the nation’s history to drive meaningful change. Female entrepreneurship is also growing at an extraordinary pace—three times faster than that of men. Women now own one-third of Australia’s small businesses, fueling innovation and economic progress across the country. As we approach the new year, this is a timely reminder to consider how we can continue to champion women in business and finance. The report also highlighted persistent barriers female investors face in accessing quality financial advice, despite their growing portfolios and expertise. Addressing these gaps in 2025 and beyond is essential to unlocking even greater opportunities for women entrepreneurs to thrive.
