Many individuals, have been on the search for new opportunities for several months now. In my own experience, I’ve encountered a variety of responses from HRs. Some have gone above and beyond by providing feedback on LinkedIn regarding my application’s rejection, which I found immensely valuable for my professional growth. However, I’ve also faced situations where, despite progressing through multiple successful interview rounds, I was left without any communication or update. In light of these experiences, I would like to make a humble request to all HR professionals and recruiters. If possible, please take a moment to review the open positions listed and close any that are no longer available or were posted in error. When applying for a job, would you ever provide the details of a referee who thinks you're any less than wonderful? 🤔🤣 I remember the shock I got when I asked a prior manager if he'd be my referee and he responded with, "I'm happy to be your referee, but only if you're sure you want me to be." 😳😬 I'm not sure what that meant, but I used him as a referee in any case, and all was fine. 😅 Personally, I'm not a great fan of reference checks as candidates are only going to provide the details of referees who think highly of them (of course!). In any case, Yollash provides a facility for candidates to add the email address of a referee. Once invited, the referee can write a reference within the Yollash platform and the recruiting team can review it. In the screenshot of the Yollash platform, below, I have added a picture that my daughter drew for me when she was 5 years old. This video perfectly explains why I've always worked around the system with finding work. I've always lived on the outskirts of the game industry, never having ever secured work through cold applications, or recruiter support. I've always put myself out there, posting in big groups on either Facebook or Linkedin related to my field. People see my art, experience, and I do my best to eliminate the risk by being fully transparent with my workflow and sharing frequent updates so we're always on the same page. A few months back when I was working on Alligori, I was hiring for an animator role and put an ad up on LinkedIn. I got a ton of applications within about 3 hours, and most of the candidates were immediately labeled as a "bad fit" by Linkedin and hidden from me. I actually went into the job posting to see all of candidates, siphoning through each and every person's application, and hired one of the bad fits for the role. Automatic rejections based on being a statistic are just awful. We need a new system, we all have our own suggestions on how to fix it, but I digress, we need a new system that isn't based on being a statistic. I'm down for sending in personalized VHS tapes again! In all seriousness, there needs a human touch to this. Not AI rejection responses, or being statistically rejected because of some value you got wrong on the application. I'm fortunate I've found something recently, but it's become increasingly harder to post in social media groups to get noticed. More and more groups disallow self-promotion, and the ones that do will often filter you to a sub-group, or an often ignored channel for where you can post. Stay strong fam! https://lnkd.in/etFpXtzT
