ISICO’s Post

Debunking recurring myths: does scoliosis only occur in children? Childhood scoliosis can worsen in adulthood; and it can even arise for the first time in adulthood. In this latter case, we talk of “de novo” scoliosis which appears in previously healthy adult spines. It affects around 38% of the population, mainly women, and its incidence increases after the age of 60. Scoliosis in adulthood can also be linked to changes in bone density seen in osteoporosis. It mainly affects the lumbar and thoracolumbar tracts. #scoliosis #idiopathicscoliosis #children #kids #adulthood #adult #childhood #childhoodscoliosis #bonedensity #osteoporosis #backpain #spinalpathology #spine #spinehealth #health #healthcare #myths
