It never ceases to amaze me how many employers are still hiring for characteristics that they have no intention of actually supporting. For example: 🔸“We’re looking for someone creative, innovative and entrepreneurial” - you are required to bill your time in 6 minute blocks and the leadership will take ownership of every idea you come up with. 🔸“We’re looking for a people person who’s great at networking and bringing in new business” - the majority of your targets still require you to be sat at a desk. 🔸“We welcome neurodiversity and are actively recruiting those with hidden disabilities” - we have a mandatory 4-days a week in our open plan office policy. Does a fish swim on land? Unique talent requires a unique environment to thrive. If you’re unwilling or unable to provide that, there’s a strong chance that you’re wasting your time and money recruiting. Build your fish tank first.
