We are so grateful for our partnership with Edmonton's Food Bank, which reached its 20th anniversary this year! Thank you for allowing us to continue making a change in the community.
We recently welcomed staff from IslamicFamily for a tour of Edmonton's Food Bank.
Their agency has been a hamper depot of ours since September of 2004 and we continue to work with them by providing food to their hamper program. Thank YOU! #yeg#edmonton#yegfoodbank#feedyeg
What does food mean to you? 🥘 Is it comfort, connection, or simply fuel for the day?

Change is never easy, especially when trust is involved. For many years, our smallholder coffee producers in East Africa have been paid in cash. This traditional method, however, poses significant challenges. Cash payments are difficult to trace, can lead to security issues such as robbery, and often result in delays, with farmers waiting weeks to receive their money.
Despite these drawbacks, many farmers trust cash payments and are sometimes skeptical about switching to our Lipia electronic SMS payment system. However, Lipia offers significant advantages: it ensures immediate payment upon delivery of coffee to our washing station partners, keeps funds secure, and allows payments to be received from anywhere in the world.
To address concerns and highlight the benefits, Stean visited our producers in Rwanda. His personal explanations and demonstrations of our payment system have helped onboard more producers, moving us closer to making our coffee 100% traceable.

If you’re interested in a truly transparent value chain for coffee Stean Fasol - owner of Stean's Beans - is who to contact.
Their sms payment system Lipia allows full disclosure of every single step of the coffee bean. From seed to cup.
And of course this system allows full insight on what people get paid for what step/job.
Agroforestry: of course.
Pesticides and chemicals: of course not.
Natural processes, waste management, soil health and truly honest pricing. All of it.
A truly remarkable company. And a great cup of coffee.

In celebration World Food Day, we commend the efforts of the Federal Govt of Nigeria in security, but more work is needed to totally overcome insecurity and ensure the right of Nigerians to food for a better life and a better future, as is the theme of #WorldFoodDay2024
As #EidulFitr approaches, millions of observers will celebrate by gathering with family around food.
However, the recent funding shortages in #Afghanistan will make it difficult for many to secure even one meal.

🚨 The latest data on food insecurity is alarming – with numbers showing a rise that we can no longer ignore. Tackling this issue with a 360-degree approach is more crucial than ever.
Insightful blog by Sumant Rao.
According to North York Harvest Food Bank & Daily Bread Food Bank's latest Who's Hungry 2024 report, Toronto's food banks have seen a staggering 3.49 million visits in the past year, surpassing the city's population. This 273% increase since pre-pandemic times highlights a critical need for systemic change.
It's time for collective action to address the root causes of food insecurity and ensure every Torontonian's right to food.

Sign up at http://bit.ly/3UR9krp
Second - let your neighbors know that we have a special site set up with specific information on disaster resources at https://lnkd.in/gQpHWdiT
Lastly - and this is on a short time limit due to an HHSC deadline - we are helping neighbors replace their SNAP benefits. Have them use this link to find out the location closest to them! https://lnkd.in/gXVD3V8w
