🌟 NanoSeminar at our chair 🌟 On December 19, 2024, the Chair of Materials Science and Nanotechnology at TU Dresden hosted an insightful seminar by Prof. Dr. Jesús Lozano Rogado from the Universidad de Extremadura. The seminar focused on digital olfaction, a field dedicated to developing devices capable of capturing odors, converting them into digital data, transmitting them globally, and reproducing the original scent. Prof. Lozano discussed the evolution of electronic noses—devices comprising arrays of electronic chemical sensors with partial specificity and pattern recognition systems, capable of recognizing simple or complex odors. He highlighted their applications across various sectors, including agriculture, industrial processes, environmental monitoring, healthcare, and the food and beverage industry. The session showcased the latest prototypes and applications developed by the Perception and Smart Systems group at the Universidad de Extremadura, emphasizing the practical implications of digital olfaction in enhancing air quality monitoring and food safety. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Lozano and all participants who contributed to making this seminar a success. Together, we continue to push the boundaries of innovation. #Nanotechnology #Digital_olfaction #TUDresden

Excited to share our latest research collaboration in #PrintableSensors, which has just been published in SmartMat (Wiley)! 👉 https://lnkd.in/gV8Jc9fi 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: Our study addresses the longstanding issue of stability in electrolyte-gated organic field-effect transistors (#EGOFETs), which are #PrintableSensors that can be used for single-molecule detection. Our study achieves ultrahigh stability and significantly extends the operational lifetime of EGOFETs. These advancements make EGOFETs a promising option for both short-term and long-term sensing applications. 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬: Advancing stable, printable EG-OFETs could enable the deployment of sensors for a wealth of sustainability-focused applications (e.g., #HealthMonitoring, #EnvironmentalMonitoring, #FoodSafety, and #SmartAgriculture) on an unprecedented scale. Additional sustainability benefits include reducing electronic waste and saving energy by extending the operational life and stability of EG-OFETs, while utilizing #PrintableSemiconductors promotes eco-friendly alternatives to traditional sensor technologies. Kudos to lead authors Dimitrios Simatos, Mark Nikolka, and Jérôme Charmet, as well as all other team members! It has been a pleasure to collaborate with brilliant scientists from around the world, including the University of Cambridge, Université Libre de Bruxelles, KAUST, University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland, and the University of Oxford. #Research #EGOFETs #Sensors #Stability #OrganicElectronics #Sustainability #SustainableEngineering #PrintableMaterials
