During NATO's first-ever space industry conference, the organization's top official, Mircea Geoană, stressed the crucial need to collaborate with private space companies. Such collaboration is seen as essential for ensuring the security of the Alliance. Representatives from NATO countries, discussed several important points during the conference: - Improving information sharing in space: NATO aims to enhance the compatibility and seamless exchange of information between the space systems of its member states. - Streamlining the acquisition process: The conference explored the adoption of more adaptable methods for acquiring space-related capabilities. - Utilizing allied expertise: NATO aims to leverage the combined strengths and knowledge of its member states in the space domain. Exciting times ahead! #nato #space #spaceindustry

China (PLA) - Argentina Space Engagement in Americas - Evan Ellis PHD - (2 Clips) - 1. The case study focuses on the PRC Deep-Space Radar, operated by China Satellite Launch and Tracking Control General (CLTC), part of the People’s Liberation Army’s Strategic Support Force. It also showcases a broader set of risks and dilemmas for other governments in the region tempted to leverage PRC interest in engagement in the space domain to further real and symbolic national technical development. - the prior Peronist government off Cristina Fernández de Kirchner made contractual commitments that provide limited benefits to Argentina, undercut national sovereignty, and created risks of PRC use of Argentine national territory for military purposes against the West in time of war. The work notes that successive Argentine governments on both the left and right have worked professionally within significant constraints of a lack of regular access to the facility, to provide technical oversight. The governments of Mauricio Macri and Javier Milei have both made particularly notable efforts at heightened oversight but have been impeded by the details of the contract signed by the prior Fernández government, as well as establishing actionable evidence of possible future PRC behavior regarding the military use of PRC-operated space facilities in Argentina. -https://lnkd.in/eF4QGMX4 2. A good way to celebrate Europe Day in London, where we have come with our CEO, Jose Vicente de los Mozos, to collect the Golden Award from the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the UK, is to review the notes of the meeting we held at our Indra headquarters the day before with the European Space Agency - ESA Director General, Josef Aschbacher, and his extraordinary team (Simona Richard, Professor Carole Mundell, Apostolia Karamali), and a prominent representation of the Spanish Space Agency (Cecilia Hernandez, Ana Marín, Isabel Pérez Grande). Space, both from a civilian point of view and because of its relevance as a security and defense domain, can be a transcendental element to strengthen the bond between the European Union and the United Kingdom, and project it beyond the ocean, towards our North Atlantic allies. Air and space unite us more than ever in our arduous journey to the stars. #PerAsperaAdAstra #leadingthefuture #Indra #European Space Agency - ESA #Defence #EuropeDay #Space

Several experts underline outer #space is experiencing a paradigm shift from exploration to exploitation, whereby #orbits become more congested and contested than ever. At the same time #NATO militaries are adapting not only to integrate space in military operations on Earth but also to operate in this domain. And the Alliance's Strategic Concept embeds space capabilities into its deterrence and #defence posture. #Europe holds important space capabilities but lags behind in certain key areas, including #launchers. And once International Space Station will be decommissioned and replaced by commercial space stations, in the absence of European capabilities to be bartered, access to transportation and to orbital infrastructures will have to be purchased from non-European private companies. Human space transportation is the new frontier that Europeans should address through civil-military cooperation. Here I had the pleasure and honor to reflect together with Samantha Cristoforetti on these issues and the future horizons: https://lnkd.in/dsDid7bn NATO Defense College IAI - Istituto Affari Internazionali Maria Vittoria Massarin Karolina Muti Gaia Ravazzolo

Advanced #militaries, like Aeronautica Militare, must be prepared to safeguard commercial activities in #Space, ensuring #Security in this vital and increasingly contested domain. 🌌 In the future Low-Earth-Orbit #LEO ecosystem, populated by commercial orbiting stations, securing space will be even more critical than today. Much like Navies once protected sea traffic, the future Air & Space Forces will set to play a key role. 🚀 Until the late 2010s, space was seen as a peacefull environment, fostering #cooperation and a growing Space #economy, but #Security was often overlooked... today, global tensions and increased #threats to #satellites highlight the need for robust space security. In our digitized world, space systems are vulnerable to #cyberattacks and Electromagnetic Warfare (EMW), transforming space into a potential #battlefield. 🌐🛰️ Space #domain is evolving with a shift in exploration, particularly towards #LEO and the #Moon. With the International Space Station (ISS) set to de-orbit in the early 2030s, the U.S. is pioneering public-private partnerships for human orbital flight. China operates its own space station and plans lunar landings, while India's space ambitions grow with its Chandrayaan-3 success and future human spaceflight plans. 🌕👨🚀 As space becomes more contested, advanced militaries must provide a security umbrella for commercial activities, akin to protecting maritime commerce. #SpaceSecurity #SpaceEconomy #CommercialSpace #ItalianAirForce #CyberSecurity #ElectromagneticWarfare #SpaceExploration #GlobalTensions #FutureOfSpace 🛡️🌍

SWEDEN OPENS UP SPACE BASE ESRANGE FOR THE LAUNCH OF MILITARY SATELLITES The Swedish Government aims to offer EU and NATO member states the opportunity to launch military satellites from its Arctic Space Base Esrange outside Kiruna. This initiative was announced today by Foreign Minister Tobias Billström (M), as he launched Sweden's new space strategy in the US. As a NATO member, space will be one of the sectors to which Sweden will contribute most clearly, according to the Swedish Government. Space Base Esrange is the obvious site from which NATO countries in Europe can launch military satellites into space. Today, France is the only EU/NATO member state that offers the launch of satellites to fellow member states.
Här säljer regeringen in Esrange som Europas bas i Natos rymdförsvar
