The other day at #TechUnwindUK London MeetUp where I had a fireside chat to speak about the impact of Tech on people and society. The conversation centered around how Technology now makes our jobs easier, work smarter and offers us convenience. We now have various AI tools for almost everything, from coding to music production, to academic research, to writing etc. I also highlighted how Tech has bridged that geographical gap and made it easier for everyone to connect worldwide. Instances where people from Nigeria 🇳🇬 met their co-founders who lived in the USA 🇺🇸 via LinkedIn. The comfort and convenience we get from Technology cannot be left out. You can easily from the comfort of your phone book a ride, get access to thousands of new movies without visiting the cinema, smart home automation like robot vacuum cleaners, Siri controlled smart lights, self driving cars etc. Technology has also provided job opportunities and unlocked new career paths like AI And Machine Learning engineers, with a lot of organizations channeling their resources to that segment. I also gave a case study of Healthtech startups and platforms like Damilare Ogunleye’s FoodLama who are leveraging Technology to help consumers eat better with diets and preferences thereby making healthier lifestyle choices. On the flip side, the negative impact of Technology being privacy and data-sharing concerns, addiction to Tech and social media which can sometimes cause social isolation and mental health issues. I also noted the threat Technology poses. With the advancement in AI and automation, people’s jobs are at risk. We now have chatbots that write and debug codes, Self driving cars etc. #UKEvents #UKTechEvents #Networking #TechEvents #TechEventsInLondon #LondonTech

💡❓Did you know that in low-income countries, only 10% of people can access the #AssistiveTechnology they need? This lack of access means that millions of people are missing out on education and employment opportunities. To raise awareness about this key issue, Pascal Bijleveld, ATscale CEO and Bernard Chiira , Director of Innovate Now, recently joined forces to write an op-ed on the importance of investing in assistive technology, which was published on the first World Day for Assistive Technology (held on 4 June). #WorldATDay was launched by #UnlockTheEveryday to call on organizations, policymakers, businesses and the public to show their support, take action to improve access to assistive technology, and help unlock a world where there are opportunities for all. 👉Read the article in full: https://ow.ly/bf4Z50SrHX4 #UnlockTheEveryday #WorldATDay #ATChangesLives

Today, we're celebrating the first World Day for Assistive Technology alongside ATscale, the Global Partnership for Assistive Technology. Access to Assistive Technology (AT) is a human right but only 10% of people in emerging countries can access the care they need. AT can mean the difference between: 📚 Accessing #education or staying home from school 🧑🔬 Securing #employment or facing unemployment 👥 Experiencing #inclusion or isolation 🗝️ Living a life of #opportunity or dependency Since 2003, we have provided over 23,000 children in emerging countries with free, high-quality, prosthetic limbs, appropriately fitted wheelchairs, and orthotic braces. Our work continues as we strive to reach those still in need. Together, we can improve access to AT, unlocking the everyday for people everywhere. 🌍✨ Happy International Youth Day! 🎉 Digitalization is transforming our world, offering unprecedented opportunities to accelerate sustainable development. Digital technologies like mobile devices, services, and artificial intelligence (AI) are crucial in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At FirstHx, we're proud to be part of this transformation with our AI-guided medical intake system. Our technology supports evidence-based decision-making and contributes to achieving SDG targets across economic, social, and environmental dimensions. Young people are leading the charge in digital adoption and innovation, using technology to drive change and create solutions. However, disparities persist, especially in low-income countries and among young women. As the 2030 deadline for the SDGs approaches, the role of young people in digital innovation is essential for addressing global issues. By celebrating their digital contributions, we can inspire further innovation and collaboration towards a sustainable future. 🌱 #YouthDay #DigitalTransformation #SustainableDevelopment #AI #Innovation #HealthTech
