Applications of Theory 🏀 DNS is a great system which overall states that movement patterns learned through the early stages of life are perfected…but forgotten as we grow into sport (this is my application of DNS). For example, a basketball 🏀 player doesn’t ‘need’ to squat deep to be an elite athlete…but obviously as practitioners we understand the importance of joint health, movement ability, etc. This is when the application becomes important to strength coaches: if we have athletes that don’t have the ability to slow down we can implement a vertical shin squat to ‘learn’ this pattern better. Conversely, if an athlete has trouble accelerating we can implement a positive angle squat to ‘learn’ this pattern. From this start, we can progress to single-leg > dynamic > sport specific movements…but it all can begin with movement theory exploration. #athletictraining #athletictherapy #athleticperformance #athleticmedicine #strengthandconditioning #sportsperformance #sportsmedicine #sportschiropractic #basketball #basketballperformance #Sportsscience
