IEI Istituto Espresso Italiano’s Post

Congratulations to Lee Hyung Wook, the international winner of Espresso Italiano Champion 2024. In the final held yesterday at Hotel Gallia in Milan, his Italian espressos and cappuccinos prevailed over those prepared by the other competitors in the competition. Congratulations also to Darwin Pontanos, first runner-up, and to Ilaria Izzo, second runner-up, and of course to the other finalists Nicolas Mosco, Matteo Colzani and Shuichi Hino. The new champion runs a business, D:mine Cafe, and also works as a trainer in Korea for IIAC – International Institute of Coffee Tasters, Italian Barista School and NEXT BEAN. Lee Hyung Wook has been following the Italian coffee competition for eight years and said: “I am deeply honored to have won the global competition held in Milan and I am looking forward to learning even more about Italian espresso”. For the first time in the championships, this year, both the espresso machine and the coffee grinder were supplied by La San Marco. Roberto Nocera, the company’s general manager, pointed out: “La San Marco is proud to have been a technical partner of Espresso Italiano Champion, a great opportunity for training and comparison between baristas from different countries. I believe that this international championship is essential to promote the quality and ritual of a drink that is a symbol of Made in Italy throughout the world.” DERSUT CAFFE S.P.A.
