2️⃣Why is accessibility important in how we imagine science exhibitions? How do we navigate resource constraints to navigate students' spirit of learning? 🔅A team of high school girls from Bengaluru share their experiences of preparing for, and participating in their school's science exhibition! 📣This post is the first of a three-part series about the science exhibition at Gangamma Hombegowda Girls High School held in December 2024. 🤝🏽The IT for Change team worked closely with the students, guiding them through the process of designing their projects and their final presentation. This engagement is part of the Hosa Hejje Hosa Dishe (A New Step in a New Direction) adolescent girl empowerment project, supported by BT Group and British Asian Trust.

I'm working on an interesting project at the moment with UCL (and @The Exhibitions Team Maria Blyzinsky Victoria Kingston ) exploring the historical legacy of the pseudoscience of eugenics at the institution and present and future ways to address this difficult past. We're creating a film this winter for #UCL with academics, students, writers, and researchers to explore this legacy with a focus of thinking around anti-eugenics and what this means at present. In a project created by Subhadra Das with an article written by Nazlin Bhimani, PhD, FHEA , it's interesting to see contemporary parallels within education. Nazlin writes, "The legacies of eugenics in education are most obvious in the way we continually assess our children. These methods are often based on standardised measures that result in the labelling, ranking, and grouping of children. They often ignore factors like emotional intelligence, the cultural or socioeconomic backgrounds of the children, or whether a child is an early or late developer or is neurodiverse. This is even before race and gender are considered." This approach continues in ever more subtle ways, and the Prejudice in Power project aims to think about these ongoing contemporary issues and implications of this. We will be launching the exhibition and website in 2025, and hopefully, it will provoke conversations about difficult topics. Love the illustrations from Wellcome Trust Gergo Varga #eugenics #anti-eugenics #ucl #prejudiceinpower #projectmanager #research #pseudoscience

I am currently undertaking a research fellowship at Université Grenoble Alpes, UGA, in France. The fellowship was awarded to me by the International Excellence in the Humanities Programme, housed at Maison de la Création et de l'Innovation, MACI. My research project is "Haunted Past:Biafra in the Digital Environment". In the research, I am contextualizing how the Nigeria-Biafra War memories are performed in the media (Twitter or X, WhatsApp and Facebook) by the generation of the Biafra War Survivors to counter the official hegemonic control of the past.
