As we listen, seek to understand what the local people perceive as the needs within their immediate and surrounding communities. What we might see as a need will often not be an issue at all for the people. Learn more about the five rinciples for having sustainable, long-term impact on a short-term trip at itecusa.org.

🌳 Integrating green spaces into urban settlements 🌳 . We at Friends of Nature ( a young NGO founded in 2020 ) are on a mission to blend nature in our urban environment and work towards community well-being. Other than that we carry out - 1. Public outreach campaigns, where effects of climate change and ways to mitigate the same are being discussed. 2. Providing solutions and on-ground support for planning and execution of green spaces around accommodations, parking areas and other unused spaces. 3. Monitor growth of planted trees and assess the impact of our efforts. 4. Encouraging people to limit their carbon-footprint and install renewable energy sources for their homes.

Congestion charges are terrible idea for Three main reasons: (1) Congestion charges require some form of surveillance which infringes of peoples' ability to travel freely. Every car, going in a certain direction will need to be identified, tagged and charged. (2) there are current alternatives that can achieve the same revenue collection. We currently have fuel taxes and annual vehicle registration fees (Licensing) which collect a significant amount of revenue for roads. They can be slightly increased. (3) Congestion charges are likely intended to merge with a national Road User Charging scheme which will HGPS track every vehicle and charge according to how far you go, and for congestion purposes, if you travel into certain areas. This is not necessary and invasive of peoples' privacy for no reason.

🌍 Across the world, the financialisation of housing and growth of informal settlements show no sign of slowing down. The resulting global crisis, where 1.6 billion people around the world lack an adequate home and basic services, has become a priority. Like us, these actors see safe and secure housing as the foundation of human development, but lack direction on the the best way to deliver. Most will not have heard of or been involved with Community Led Housing (CLH) as an effective way to solve the problem. That’s why World Habitat is partnering with International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), to promote CLH as a solution that will help our cities and the planet to thrive. Our aim is to showcase the effectiveness of CLH, its benefits for people and the planet in a time of climate and ecological emergency and encourage its adoption and scaling-up by key stakeholders. The work the Waterfront Alliance does is about more than just water — it's about the future of the entire region and beyond. We achieve change through collaborations, education, and our own initiatives and campaigns, and by inspiring others to become changemakers. We believe to improve the health of people and environment, we must have clear leadership, approach problems holistically, and fund community- and science-based solutions in a way that is transparent and prioritizes equity and justice. The 2024 Waterfront and Resilience Platform captures the key areas of our policy and advocacy work, where we strive toward communities and a nation that are prepared for the climate crisis and committed to building excitement where water meets land. A growing number of Indigenous Nations are pursuing nature-based solutions to advance their land relationship visions. Yet, Communities can face capacity barriers when it comes to accessing financing and getting new NbS initiatives off the ground. To understand capacity gaps and determine how to best respond, the Restore, Assert and Defend (RAD) Network recently conducted an “ecosystem scan,” summarized in their new report: “Cultivating Capacity: A Scan of Needs and Resources for Indigenous-led Nature-based Solutions.” The report offers reflections and recommendations on capacity gaps, and spotlights existing resources and approaches, from technical toolkits to emerging Communities of Practice. Europe is drying up and this is one of the small opportunities to start restoring water resources at the community level through ecosystem retention of rainwater. Europe needs many examples of good practice to create projects to improve water resources. Help implement community water resource restoration projects. We can advise and help you. One of the challenges is the already open challenge of EC in the world. Here is the link https://lnkd.in/e-T4Ruzb
